It consists of a transmitter and a receiver. The transmitter identifies the presence of power via a red LED and sends a signal over the conductors when connected to an energized circuit. The receiver reads the transmitter's signal and identifies the breaker/fuse energizing the circuit by illuminating a red LED and emitting continuous beep once it determines the breaker/fuse with the strongest signal. But I ll check it when I get home **Q: What's the difference between this model and the black model both model numbers are the same...** A: The 61-534 has a transmitter that will test a GFCI and indicate outlet polarity. The 61-532 transmitter only indicates whether the outlet is powered. Note that these units require a powered outlet to work.
