Feel substantial. They have enough weight that they don't feel cheap. We haven't used them long enough to know if they chip, but they don't appear to be any different from other well-made dishes. The dinner plate has a slight lip on it which makes it ideal if there is a meal with gravy. That's a bonus. And they are inexpensive, about $2/item. We liked them so much we ordered two more sets! And they display wonderfully. Really brighten up the china cabinet.
