They suggest using a tool - like forceps- to get it out. Again, no lies here. You definitely need some good old elbow grease along with some type of instrument as to wedge under the stopper lip to try and gently work it out. I don't have a pair of forceps so I used a large flat head screwdriver. I don't think I've ever seen a stopper on something so tight. So in that area, you can rest assured that unless the glass bottle breaks, you will not loose any of the product! As for scent. I tried it in our bedroom where all the animals tend to gravitate in the evening through morning. Our bedroom is about 15' x 15' so kinda large but when opening, the scent appeared strong enough to do the job. It's a nice light scent not overpowering but it does kind of remind me of some of the perfumes my grandmother used to wear. Not bad but definitely not what I was thinking I would smell. For reference - I got the Sage & Sea Salt and used all 10 reeds. It smelled more powdery and grandmotherly? That's the only way I can think of describing it. After having it in there all day and night yesterday, I could barely smell any of the scent. So I moved it to the smaller bathroom where the litter boxes are. After about an hour of having it in there this morning, I just went in and you can smell it, it's faint but there and the best part? No litter box scent was noticeable! Yay! i'm curious as to how long this will last but for now I am very happy with this and if it lasts for at the 50 days they say, I'll be buying a few more to place around the house.
