Just to add to my original review below, angle is everything. As the receiver lays flat, the TOP (not the front) is the area that must receive the IR signal. This is not ideal and a little counter-intuitive, but once I figured that out, the response was consistent and predictable. So make sure the TOP is facing you and you'll be good to go. ------ Please note, I AM NOT using the included IR TRANSMITTER part of this so my review does not speak into how well that does or doesn't work. I am only using this as a powered IR RECEIVER plugged directly into my Sony ZA810ES using a mono male to male 3.5mm cable (I also tested a 3.5mm stereo connection and that works as well). Sony's manual and website offer no useful info as to which IR receivers are compatible with their gear so I gambled this inexpensive option would work and I'm glad I did.

This did not work. Not even worth the hassle of returning. The seller was great and informative but other than that, as others have stated, there is a lag when it works and if not, it just doesn't work at all. Save your time and money.

Item works well. I am powering the system via my TV’s USB port. Works well but I have a small audio noise every time a ir signalnis sent. This has to be from the signal feedback through my TV’s USB port. Wish the power was on the receiver end. This would make it much easier to power.

I ordered the wrong product and should have used more care in finding what I needed.

Trash. I installed it 100% as specified, and it works about 10% of the time, and, when it does, with a ridiculous delay.
