Review: All Round Winner Strings - I don't usually use Ernie Ball strings but I bought these because they were a good price and on the off chance. I was glad I did, I have to say, as an all round string for playing at home, practicing and general noodling etc, they're absolutely spot on. They have a nice bright tone but not overly clanky, they feel nice under the fingers, not too much string noise, length was good as I have a string-thru bridge, and they sound nice when playing chords over many strings. I will be buying these again when I come to replacement as I think they are not only great value, but a great string in their own right. I use Fast Fret on the strings before and after use so they have lasted a very long time and have retained quite a lot of their bright tone and playability. I would recommend that you do similar with either Fast Fret or the D'Addario Waves equivalent. You can buy oil top ups for the little pads when they go dry too which saves a few quid and keeps your strings going longer.
