Chimney Sheep 8 x 20 Inch Wool Chimney Draught Excluder & Blocker

Brilliant! 100% improvement on other chimney draughty excluders we’ve tried in our 1930s house. Used the Chimney Sheep video and website to measure and find the correct size. Easy to fit and no more sneaky draughts on my shins. Thank you to the Chimney Sheep and the Herdwick sheep for their fleece🐑

We have an old disused flu which was once used for a gas fire - my partner and I had many discussions about whether to buy the circular type which would have had to be placed right up inside (hard to reach area). Or try plug the middle area easier to reach but an odd shape/fit would have been an issue. In the end I ordered the largest rectangular type and carefully gently plugged the immediate open space. So far it is working great and does exactly what it says preventing cold air entering, debris falling down and wind noise eliminated. Fit isn’t perfect as product is larder than the area measured but I think that’s exactly what u need and how it works best. Would highly recommend.

This is a really great product! It works very well and completely stops any drafts. It’s so easy to use, and a lot more simple than the adverts sounds. Just measure the part just before the narrow part of the chimney flu to order the right size. There is a lot of Lea-way with the sizing so don’t overstress…it fits snugly and safely and won’t fall out. There’s also a little tag that I quite like, that hangs down to remind ‘Ewe’ to remove your ‘sheep’ before lighting your fire! I’m really happy with my purchase! And a must for todays energy crisis.

It’s the next best thing to training an actual Herdwick to wedge herself up your flue. Well designed and made with optional handle extension and simple instructions - all good. Positioning and selecting the right size is key - but I’m optimistic ours will prove to be a trusty purchase. Take care with handling and storage as it will obviously brush up against all the soot coating your flue.

We are really happy with our Chimney Sheep. Cold draught from the chimney is eliminated. Easy to fit. Our one is quite low down due to shape of the fireplace but still works well. Handle hangs down for easy removal and there is a visible tag so you don't forget. We have swapped our tag for a decorative metal heart. Great product.

Bought this after we had a survey for a heat pump and were advised that the open chimney would lose a lot of heat and degrade our rating. Its basically a thick oblong sheet of wool with a plastic handle to bung it up the chimney with. We bought the size most appropriate for our chimney but still it wont seal all round properly. Maybe if you have an absolutely symmetrical hole it would be effective, but ours has a ledge at the front and it couldn't rest properly.

I have just received my 8x20 sheep and fitted it to the chimney. I could probably have done with the next size down, but that was my fault. It was therefore a bit of a push to fit it but once in, only took a couple of minutes, it made an immediate effect. The draught from the chimney was gone and so was the noise. Our living room immediately was warmer because the cold air was not coming in and the warm air not escaping. The heating only needed to be on for a short time where yesterday we had to keep it on all evening. Extremely pleased with the product and would recommend it wholeheartedly.

I probably ordered a slightly larger sheep than I needed but the design is flexible and it is doing the job well. My upstairs neighbours are a bit squabbly as they are jackdaws and seagulls and I'm not hearing them chattering on much whilst it's in place nor the wind moaning down the chimney which is great.

This is working perfectly for our 1940’s small southern farmhouse. The center of house fireplace draws beautifully because the house is so porous and poorly insulated. The 90 -100 degree summer heat made it impossible to adequately cool the house, and you could feel the heat pouring down the chimney. I give 4 stars for value only because we just installed the plug this weekend. But based on the total absence of heat I now feel from under the fireplace, I would bet it quickly pays for itself. I hung the white ribbon to help:remind us not to start a fire before removing the plug.

Very easy to cut to fit my space, which is an odd size. It made a very big difference in the temperature of the room.

Make sure your measurements are correct. If you need to return product for refund good luck. I purchased one and it didn't work out so returned it September 2020. To this day there has been no contact or refund. What a waste of money!

Bought two of the excluder's for a house built in the 1950's. Both worked as advertised. Easy to install. Great customer service. Need more companies like this one.
