This desk clamp is a solid option if you need something wider than the standard boom arm mounts. It assembles easily and fits my ~2.75” thick desk at nearly full extension and holds securely without wobbling. The build quality feels sturdy and the extra width helps distribute weight better than standard boom arm desk clamps so adjusting the mic is easier. A good upgrade for the money if you need more stability or have a thicker desk.

So far, so good with these scissor boom bases. The part in which the boom arm sits is plastic, which makes it less-than-100%-sturdy to me, hence the 4 stars instead of 5. However, for my really, really thick table top where I record my podcasts, these were perfect. The clamps that came with the scissor boom arms were about 3/16" too small to clamp onto this tabletop. I do like that these support the boom via the table itself, rather than that weight hanging off the side like on the original clamps.

Just got this and installed on my Uplift desk. This is not a photogenic item, but don't let that stop you from considering it. The metal bracket is nicely robust and clears the metal angle that supports the desktop, something other clamps I've tried won't do, including the one that comes my my Gator Frameworks mic stand. The design of the plastic block is also great, it places the pivot point directly above the clamp tightening bolt, and it includes a friction clamp that allows you to fine-tune the effort required to swing the stand around without ending up being notchy. However. The plastic feels a bit fragile, like it might eventually self-destruct, though initially it seems quite fine. Too bad they didn't use a more robust material/molding. However I will point out that in the configuration I used (vs. the 90 degree configuration I did not use) the metal mic stand pole fits into a hole in the metal clamp so I think most of the torque will be applied metal-to-metal rather than metal-to-plastic. So kudos to them for that part of the design as I think that will likely keep the fragile feeling plastic from breaking for much longer, if indeed it ever breaks. Also, the main reasons for my four (4) stars instead of five (5) is that the moldings has a slight offset that would not allow the mic stand to slip all the way. I had to use a 1/2" spade drill bit and remove the plastic that kept it from seating fully at the bottom. Once that surgery was complete, the stand slipped all the way in and was ready to mount. All-in-all I would definitely buy it again, but I would be happier if I didn't have to drill it to get it to fit, and even happier if that plastic part were metal instead. And me personally, I'm pay at least 2x as much for such an items as they really no worthy competitors, at least on Amazon.

I found an industrial goose neck lamp at an estate sale.Clamp was missing but this worked perfectly and was sturdy enough to support the weight of the the light. The cost of buying a lamp of this quality and this clamp was minimal.Very happy.

Lasted for 10 months before breaking due to an entirely prevently failure condition. The stability is okay but the one time I try to get it truly tight, the plastic clamshell feature that grips onto the bottom end of the boom snaps off at the joint between the two arm-thingies. Do yourself a favor, buy an all-metal mount instead. The rubber pads (one is glued to the bottom of the base, the other stretches over the top of the clamp screw) were giving me trouble since I bought it, too.
