We added a couple of extra screws to ours ensure the platforms were solid, but our 7kg (16lbs) cat jumps from one to another without any issue **Q: What is the length of the wood that is screwed to the wall?** A: From the top of the wooden base down it is 12cm and across it is about 20cm. You can see in the photo how one side of the actual shelf sticks out.
