Wusthof Silverpoint II 4.5-Inch Serrated Brunch Knife

I've been using this knife and 1 or two replacements for more than 15 years. It's very inexpensive and because of the scalloped serration and quality of the metal, it stays sharp and cuts EVERYTHING -- from tomatoes to sweet potatoes and beef and everything in-between. It was recommended to me by a culinary-supplies store owner when I was purchasing some high end knives (lost my originals in the divorce settlement). Actually, I have a backup at all times, because occasionally a dinner guest admires it, so I give them the old one and then I have a new one.It's my favorite single kitchen implement (PS: I am not the company owner's mother!)

I love this little thing so much. I use it to chop up my toddler's food quickly. I never feel like the blade is going to slip or bend, and it cuts right through apples, bread, grapes, cheeses, cold cuts, chicken pieces, tomatoes, you name it. When I'm done using it, I wash it quickly by hand and dry it off right away, and I haven't seen any issues with rusting at all. I put it into a sheath that I also bought here on Amazon, look up the Knife Edge Guard 4.5 inch, it's a pink sheath that fits this knife perfectly. I'm going to buy a few more of these because I actually think I might cry if something ever happened to this one - it's that useful.

We love using this knife. It's very sharp! It also works well when making sandwiches as the blade is wide enough to put butter or mayonnaise on bread as well as slicing veggies and lettuce, sausage, ham, cheese, whatever. The plastic handle has held up very well through many cycles in the dishwasher. Good quality, excellent price! I've already bought a second one.

This meets all my requirements for a utility knife. The handle is long enough for my extra-large hand. The blade is sharp, thin, and cuts any vegetable I set it to. Do NOT wash this, or any knife, in hot water! That will dull the blade. Rinse in cold water only and it will stay sharp for a long time.

I love the Wusthof knives and I thought this one was like the set I bought. This is one is slightly cheaper and not made as well as the rest of my knives. I use it almost daily and it works nicely. It just feels cheap and light in my hand.

I LOVE these knives! I got a few years ago at marshall's. Somehow I was down to one knife and searched for it here on Amazon and found them! The price was only 5$ more than what I paid a decade ago so I thought that was good. I use these knives for everything...from steak to a pairing knife. I love the serrated edges, cuts through everything!

This knife is great; hot quality and functionality. My hands are small and my arthritis makes it difficult to use the stance size bread knife which have always felt awkward to me. This knife fits well in my hand and is lightweight which is also a plus. I tend to use smaller loaves of bread so the ease this knife gives me is a blessing.

Eigentlich wäre bei diesem Messer ein Warnhinweis angebracht: Waffenschein erforderlich! Beim ersten Einsatz habe ich mir gleich in den Finger gesäbelt. Aber daran ist nicht das Messer schuld... Es ist wie erwähnt ausgesprochen scharf, liegt gut in der Hand, hat eine ausreichende Länge und ist auch zum Pizzaschneiden gut geeignet. Die Spitze ist allerdings nicht optimal zum Einstechen in Brötchen (Semmel, Wecken etc.), weil rund, aber dann setze ich eben mit der Klinge an. Alles in Allem: Bei entsprechender Vorsicht empfehlenswert.

I own a starter set of Wusthof "Gourmet" series knives and find them fantastic. I wanted to add some new Wusthof knives to my collection without breaking the bank and so I ordered this "Silverpoint" series knife. The quality and craftmanship of the "Silverpoint" knife are clearly inferior compared to the more expensive "Gourmet" series, (and I would surmise other high-end Wusthor series). The "Silverpoint" knife does not feel as balanced nor solid, and the quality of the steel appears much lower. Basically, I feel that I paid for the brand name but did not get the higher quality knife I expected.
