This recertification procedure was carried out in March 2019 where the company met all required compliance details after a thorough inspection by USFDA officials. However the source of the sea moss does not fall under the purview or jurisdiction of USDA or USFDA for organic certification. However, the sea moss is organic. There is no chemical or pesticide used in the growing, drying or packaging stages of this sea moss. It is grown in clean, open sea, coastal, intertidal areas. It is all natural. So, yes it is organic, but not by the USDA. There is a lot of misinformation floating around on the internet titled "fake vs real" primarily from people who don't know what they are talking about (the most dangerous kind). Here's what you need to know. On Amazon there are three (3) different species of sea moss for sale. They all fall under the generic term Irish Moss or Sea Moss. But they are species variations. One is a Northern Temperate cold water species called Chondrus Crispus that is harvested in the summer. C. Crispus has a more leafy flattened look when dry. The other two are Gracilaria and Eucheuma Cottonii. These two are very similar looking with a "tangled" texture of growth. These are warm water tropical species that grow year round and faster. All three species are full of really good nutrients: Vitamins, minerals and amino acids. Some slightly more that the other. ALL are very good for you. Appearances will vary slightly from from one to the other, with some being a bit redder than the other depending on where they grew and how well they were dehydrated. There are some so-called gurus who will say one species is better than the rest (with little scientific support). They are ALL good for you. No one is bleaching this stuff. (Good way to go out of business fast). It is being dried in the sun (or in some cases, some suppliers will use drying ovens) and salted, Which is really to dehydrate the sea moss so that it doesn't rot in its packaging. Who wants that? The problem of "Fake vs real" has also been compounded by some sellers not knowing what species they are selling and mislabeling them with a wrong species. Another problem is when buyers don't follow package instructions and get varied results. If you use too little water when boiling, the gel will be more rubbery and if you use too much water it will be more drippy wet gel. Then these folks go on the internet and complain like an expert that this one is not real. Our species is E.Cottonii.Follow the package instructions for an optimal result. It is highly regarded.
