I would say yes. I have a 8 inch knife in it now. But note, it does not have the velvet like inner surface. It’s just a tight protection sleeve.

Nope just slides in and out. If you turn it upside down without peg it will fall out. Peg is nice and snug though

It’s not guaranteed to fit all 8” Chef Knives, I had to take some sandpaper to get the sheath to fit my knife. It was not a Mercer.
