This is my 2nd replacement pump for my 2 Drinkwell Cat Fountains. They work well and last years.

My cats were very angry with me when their pump failed. They angrily stared at me whilst sitting next to their deactivated fountain proclaiming their displeasure audibly. And loudly. Bobert, the fluffy one would wait by the door thinking that every outdoor noise was the delivery man bringing his replacement pump. He reminded me of each false alarm that the whole situation was all my fault. Loki, the fat one, unfortunately, does not have the brain capacity as his fluffier brother so he would paw at the fountain occasionally thinking that he could somehow change the situation with the wack of a paw. Bobert would scream at him to stop, thinking of course that this may have added to the failure of the original pump, Loki was now included in the blame and was quickly shunned. Being that it was a Friday when the pump broke, I had to wait 3 days rather than 2 because of Sunday. The cats are both heathens and have no concept of the day of the Lord and awoke me promptly at sunrise. After the night I had, I felt like Jesus rising from the dead. Like a zombie. In my hangover-haze, I forgot that it was Sunday and promised both of the cats that their pump would be here soon and I went back to bed. Fast forward. It is now early in the afternoon and Bobert knows that by this time, Amazon Prime has usually arrived, but because of it being a holy day, it had not arrived. Bobert was now so frustrated that he decided it to be a good idea to sit on my chest and stare at me until I realized his unhappiness. The rest of the day I was met with the same torment; screaming, refusal to be petted, evil eyes, and the creme de la creme, a full glass of ice-cold fresh water all over my floor. It was a long wait for Monday. Monday finally arrived and by this point, Bobert had visually lost it. It looked as if he hadn't slept, his fur was a mess, his eyes bulged out of his head, he even had a slight twitch about him. I felt bad, but there was nothing that I could do. By the afternoon, the pump had finally arrived and I went to work instantly installing it. Bobert and Loki bot watched in anticipation. Bobert following me each step of the way. Finally, it was time to plug it in. Bobert's eyes darted from the outlet to the fountain and back and forth until finally...WATER! He let out an excited chortle and went straight to the fountain to happily drink. I watched as he lapped fast and furiously, he didn't even care that water was splashing all over his tangled mane. Loki sat back and waited politely until Bobert had finished bathing in the glory of the fountain and its new pump. He did not carry the same appreciation as Bobert did, I wonder if he even realized that several days had passed since the fountain had stopped pumping fresh water.

After about 8 years the water pump inside my PetSafe Drinkwell Platinum water fountain was starting to go bad. Every time I temporarily disconnected the power supply the pump would not start back up after I re-connected the power supply and cleaning the pump only temporarily fixed the issue. So I ordered this replacement part. Since this part is sold by PetSafe it appears to be an OEM replacement part. This product is an AC water pump and it does come with the needed AC power supply for it. The original water pump that came with my water fountain was an AC water pump and so its power supply was also AC. While looking for replacement water pumps I noticed some non-OEM pumps were DC water pumps. This is something to keep in mind if you intend to buy a 3rd party replacement water pump that is DC but you intend to use the original AC power supply that came with the water fountain. This configuration isn't going to work and will probably fry the water pump motor. An AC pump needs an AC power supply and similarly a DC water pump needs a DC power supply. The OEM replacement water pump has the same AC specs as the original water pump it replaced so I could have used the original power supply that came with my water fountain but I instead chose to use the new power supply that came with the replacement pump. After I installed the replacement water pump and turned on the fountain, the replacement water pump was EXTREMELY loud. To the point I was afraid it would scare my cats away from it. The original pump never got as loud as the replacement pump. However I let the pump run for about 24 hours and the next day I could barely hear the pump running and all I could hear was the sounds of the water splashing. The replacement pump was running at the same noise level as the original water pump and I think it may even be quieter. So if after you install the replacement water pump it seems too loud to you, I think it needs to be broke in and you need to run it for about a day or two before it breaks in and gets quiet.

This is fantastic and saved me from buying an entire new fountain. I discovered putting the motor in hot water with soap and soaking and swishing got a lot of the gunk out of the motor. Well, one cleaning I made the water too hot and warped the motor so the plastic part wouldn't fit back in place. Oooopsss. This is an excellent replacement. Wall unit still works fine from original fountain so I'll keep as spare. I learned my lesson and won't using scalding hot water to clean out motor. Hopefully, this review saves you from doing the same. We use a "petsafe drinkwell fountain" and this replacement motor fit perfectly.

So I recently learned that instead of replacing my cats’ entire $80 water fountain when the motor gives out due to hard water buildup I can just. Buy a new motor?! It’s so easy!! I literally just rinse the sucker off and stick it back in there. Kitties now have a functional fountain again AND there’s less waste in the landfill. Comes with a spare wall plug so now I have extra.

I have one of the original style model pet fountains, well over 10 years old. The pump finally gave out and the closest I could find was this one. I was fairly confident that it would operate OK but when it arrived the extension lever was much bigger in diameter and length and wouldn't clear the opening. The little drop down "fence" would also not fit over it. What to do? The pump itself is a perfect fit except for this oversized control arm (I still don't think it does much anyway). So in the end the solution was to simply remove it! Now the pump settles in nicely into its proper spot and I can replace the "fence". The pump works as expected and the fountain appearance is the same except no lever sticking out. The intake is wide open and the flow is good and strong. So far no issues but I expect that it may tend to clog up a bit faster, but no problem you have to clean it anyway.

Replacement pump for Petsafe Platinum Cat Water Fountain - last one lasted 4.5 years. Works as it is supposed to with no noise from the pump. Exactly the same as the previous pump so fits perfectly.
