This book should be read by the World! The Mystical City of God is both awesome and inspiring. You will cry and feel every emotion a human being can feel. It answers every question you may have of the Holy Family individually and and as a Family. Take your time in reading this beautiful book. Meditate on Our Lady's words. May God Bless You and may your Love of Our Blessed Mother and Her Son guide you to Heaven.

I learned so much from reading this book. And I've grown to a greater knowledge and appreciation of Our Lady. It's the kind of book you'll want to read more than once. I'm on my second read.

Mary was perfect from the time she was conceived. God himself implanted His seed in her mother, St. Ann's womb. Mary had all her faculties from the time she was born, but chose not to use them so as not to draw attention to herself. Being perfect Mary wasn't fussy like all babies are from time to time. This book is the history of our Blessed Mother Mary revealed by Mary to a 17th. Century nun. The nun, Mary of Agreda was told to record all the events in a book. Reading the City of God you will learn of the creation of the world, the hidden life of Jesus,Mary and Joseph and intimate details of Jesus life. Ever wonder about Lucifer's rebellion? i will never stop reading this book. it is so beautiful

If you thought you knew your Christian faith, this book is the "outline" of the full 4 Volume set which explains the meaning and continuity between the Old and New Testaments. This is what Judeo-Christianity means in its true depth. Get an older dictionary, you're going to need it. Written in formal English as translated from the original Spanish text, it explains the lives of the Virgin Mary, her Son, Jesus Christ, St. Joseph, the nature of the battle between the influences of the Righteous Angels of God and the Demonic angels of Satan here on earth, the weaknesses of human nature and why the Disciplines and Sacraments of Judeo-Chrisianity (Roman Catholicism) are necessary to successfully defeat Evil in this world. This book clarifies and is the Doctrine of Roman Catholicism. It is excellent. This version is condensed from the unabridged version which is 4 full Volumes and also corresponds exactly with the verses of the Bible. It contains Imprimaturs.

Having heard about how this is the life of Mother Mary, I wanted to read it. I wanted an abridged version because I wasn’t sure I would ever get through the original books. Best purchase ever! Couldn’t put it down. I even bought it for a relative. This book will inspire you on your spiritual journey.

Years ago a read a little of the book in paperback format; this is a larger paperback and is chock-full of interesting information about the Holy Family, starting with the man and woman who would become Jesus' earthly parents. Highly recommended.

This is a wonderful abridged version of the original work, which I later found and bought (4 Volumes: 8 Books: 2676 pages), written by Sister Mary of Jesus, (1602-1665), Superioress of the Convent of the Immaculate Conception in Agreda, Spain, and later translated from the original Spanish by Fiscar Marison (Rev. George J. Blatter) of Chicago. It is a must read for anyone who wishes to know more about the life of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God, of which the Bible contains so little. This is not by coincidence. Prior to the evangelists beginning their writings of the Gospels, Our Lady appeared to each at their time with the request that concerning Herself nothing be written except only what was "absolutely necessary for manifesting the Incarnation and other mysteries of the Word made man, and for establishing his faith in the world as the foundation for his Church." Once the faith was established the Lord would assign other persons the task of revealing her life at the most opportune time (Vol.4, Page 483). I believe with all my heart that this is that work. I'd like to add a point regarding private revelations: A great Pope once said, "In cases which concern private revelations, it is better to believe than not to believe, for, if you believe, and it is proven to be true, you will be happy that you believed, because our Holy Mother asked it. If you believe, and it should be proven false, you will receive all blessings as if it had been true, because you believed it to be true." (Pope Urban VIII, 1623-1644)

Thank you Sr Mary of Agreda, a masterpiece honouring the immaculate heart of our most glorious, blessed and merciful Mother Mary, the Theotokos, our Co-redemtrix, the hope of the world, the hope of the human race, the Mediatrix of all graces, our Mother of Perpetual Succour and the Ark of the new Covenant.
