Easy to install; read the instructions to know what choice to make at install time in the KASA app
East ti install. The line screw is for the black power wire. The load screw is what is going to turn on/use power such as a light fixture. This uses a common (white) wire but some houses have different wiring. Use an electrician if you do not feel comfortable installing this by yourself. A couple of points: The switch has two choices in the Kasa app. One is Matter, one is not. However, read the instructions. It says to use an entirely different choice so if you do not use what the instructions say, you can't install it. There is a small postage sized code to scan to install the switch in Homekit if that is what you want-but you cannot simply add the device as an accessory then scan the code. That won't work. Some say your phone must be on the same 2.4 ghz network but that is not true either. How you add the device to homekit is to install the device first in the Kasa app...then after a successful install, check the device's settings in Kasa app and choose "add to homekit" and THEN scan the barcode/stamp. It will install into Homekit in about 30 seconds. You can use the exact same thing of the device in Kasa as in Homekit. Fior exampe, Bob's Fan <--can be used in the Kasa app and the Homekit app. Once installed in Homekit, you can slide up and down on the icon to dim or increase lighting. Of course your light/lamp/whatever has to be dimmable. OR use the KASA app. Or use Alexa or Google Home to dim or increase lighting or whatever it is you have attached to this dimmer switch. No you do not have to be on the 2.4 ghz network to install or operate. Yes you can only install any Kasa switch/plug/etc. only on a 2.4 ghz network but your phone can be on a 5.4 ghz network in your home. I have a 2.4 netowrk for Kasa and appliances, and for all else it goes onto the 5.4 ghz network.

Worth the Money
I initially passed over these lights because I'm not an Apple product user and have no intention of using Apple Home Kit. I had wired another brand of smart switches throughout my entire house that were maybe 15% cheaper but I could also find them at Home Depot. The switches I installed were not compatible with my local network and home automation software. They also dropped network connection everyday, the app was cheap and barely worked, and the dimming stuttered. So I bought these Kasa switches and other 3-Way switches, and just finished installing all of them. It is anmight and day difference. Kasa app is extremely easy to use, the options for customization are amazing, the operation of the dimmer is so smooth it's easy on the eyes. Better yet, they are all working with a third party home automation program I was hoping to use. If you are in the market and hoping to add Kasa products to your home just buy these. Save yourself the hassle of buying, installing, uninstalling, and returning cheaper alternatives.

Reliable and still supported — TP‑Link gets it right.
I really appreciate that TP‑Link keeps supporting their smart home products instead of abandoning them like some other brands (looking at you, Belkin). This dimmer works flawlessly, integrates with HomeKit without any hassle, and I use it constantly. Solid build, smooth dimming, and dependable performance. A great buy if you want smart switches that actually stay supported.

Replacement for Wemo Smart Dimmer
I installed one of these in my bathroom a couple years ago and it has worked as expected. I decided it was time to replace the other Wemo dimmers and switches in my home. There are easy to install and connects directly to wifi. My only gripe is that it only comes with integrated neutral and ground wires. I wish it also came with an integrated load and line wire as well to make the installation easier

Work flawlessly with Alexa
These work great. Works well with Alexa. We have them all over three different homes. I have routines set to turn them on and off and they work perfectly.

DO NOT BUY IF YOU WANT LOCAL CONTROL (Does not work with Home Assistant)
DO NOT BUY THESE IF YOU WANT TO USE HOME ASSISTANT or other 3rd party control!!! I purchased these a little over a year ago, with the intention of using them in home automation. They've essentially disabled local HA control with firmware updates and made it near impossible to get TP-Link devices seamlessly working with Home Assistant. They used to work perfectly too which makes it all the more difficult to cut the cord on all my TP-Link devices. I've spent countless hours and substantial $$$ going all in on their devices (Router, Switches, Plugs, Dimmers, etc.) for them to do a complete rug pull. Totally gutted but I'm going to start phasing them out as I can. Yes, the devices still work in their app; however, the whole point behind smart devices is to be able to have total control of how you want your house to run. Their response to the issue is also glaring, claiming security but just corporate speech for "closed ecosystem so you have to buy our products" BS. If your intent is to use these devices as most 'smart users' would and want to integrate them into the rest of your house, LOOK ELSEWHERE. Read the recent forums, and read their response to the issue, and it will provide insight into exactly what direction they're taking their product.

Really Impressive
I really like these switches - They are brilliantly well thought out. Not only do they perform as expected, they have some features that surprised and delighted me. For example, when the lights are off, there’s a dim white ring that glows in the switch. It turns out that’s extremely helpful when the room is dark, or if the lights are dimmed all the way and you need to adjust the dimming range (which is easy in the app) - You can tell they’re on. I like that they are pushbutton on/off rather than rockered or up/down, and that you can control the dimming level with the buttons above the switch. There is a series of LEDs that indicate the dimming level on the switch, which you can set *before* you turn the lights on. Bonus: you can use special tap combinations to deliver certain effects, like having the lights dim very slowly as they go out. Connecting the first switch to Siri was trivial, but I had to do some finagling to get all three attached, and I think that’s because I installed all three before doing the connections. If you purchase these, I’d recommend installing and connecting them to your SmartHub one at a time. I’m extremely impressed with the switches, and have no hesitation recommending them. I’ve also had great experiences with most TP-Link products that I’ve purchased over the years, which speaks well to their focus on usability and reliability, and gives me more confidence recommending their stuff.
