I've also been having red highlights and some red added to th all over colour for the last 9 months and this root touch up works as well as it did when I had it one colour. My advice is follow the instructions; do the allergy test and a strand test which is what I did. There was plenty of product to cover full head of roots. I leave it on my hair for longer than it states when I colour my hair and it generally colours my grey for about 3 weeks.
