There are positive and negatives to this review. As a positive having the metal bristles definitely helps ensure that harder deposits are removed from the chimney. Unfortunately, the thread for the fitting is small and does not fit a standard set of brushes / drain rods. Apparently there is an adapter you can get but at £7 if you can locate one doesn't make this such a good deal. I had to screw in some threaded rod and cut off the end of a brush rod and glue the threaded rod into it to allow me to use the brush. One other thing if push the brush into the opening of the chimney at even a slight angle, as I diode the fist time, the twisted wire between the brush and the fixing bends quite easily meaning that the brush bends over to 90 degrees and doesn't work. If the initial information said the thread size was different I wouldn't have bought it and not everyone will have the time or items to make up an adapter to use it. In conclusion does it work for me. It does now, so I guess I'm happy, but I think most people would prefer to look for one they can use straight off the cuff.
