Better quality than most

The pot metal rotating cleat of every tubular mortice latch in our household doors has failed over the last few years and I normally replace them with whatever brand the local hardware store in our town stocks. During lockdown in February 2021, the door latch on our cloakroom door began to bind, so taking this as a portent of imminent failure, instead of going to the hardware store, I just searched Amazon and found this three pack made by trusted manufacturer of door furniture Yale. Fitting was no problem, aside from having to contend with the usual issues of poor quality internal doors and a certain amount of bodged joinery in our 20 year old house. I can do nothing other than recommend these items.

Greater price and an excellent product, which is per typical of Yale! As recently, several of our upstairs door handles have become rather irritatingly noisy, this somewhat exaggerated during the dead of the night, particularly our bathrooms handle, obviously because as it's used more often. These were purchased and received in no time, we acted quickly to have them fitted, & the lad who did so made reference to their high manufacturing quality, which is always reassuring to know. Once installed - wow, what a difference, instead of the very irritating spring type grinding noise of the old latches, these offer such a smoother and virtually silent operating, so much so, we'll be buying more to have all our doors done, as we're overjoyed with not being woken during the night, by the time previous dodgy sounding handles. Lol, anything for a disturbed free sleep 😁 A quality Yale door latch, that I can say with full confidence - will last much longer than the cheap 💩 ones they've replaced, as a silent an operation a door handle can be 👍👍👍

We occasionally experience an indoor latch that breaks so it's good to know there is a ready supply of these available as replacements. When I searched it was tricky to be sure I was getting the correct brass finish and the correct 3" size because of colour showing up on some listings but these Yale seemed to fit the bill and Yale are a well known British company so they stood out to me as the ones to get. Oddly they came from Germany and were late so our door was not working for longer than it might have been had we gone out to B&Q and bought them, but that aside they have Yale on the face plate that fits perfectly into the cut-out left by our old face plate so that was a good start. The internal rod is also the correct size and length to fit through the latch onto both handles. A really important feature. I read in previous reviews that the screws were a bit short, and they are, but we used our old longer brass screws so that was simple. I don't think we swapped our striking plate with it's curved lip over to this one that has a straight lip either. Therefore we had no problems fitting it at all. One thing was different. The opening & closing latch that comes in and out of the face plate is significantly smaller than all of our other latches in the house. That's not swappable and was disappointing. There is no way to check that you can get one of those that is the same size and I can't help but wonder if that is something do do with those supplied to the German market being slightly different. I bought two so we now have one spare available for the next door that goes. The next time I'm passing B&Q we might pop in there and buy more. :)

Couldn't say really, turns out my doors have some weirdly shaped and sized locks and as such can't get these to fit even though the dimensions are right. Perfectly good lock and I'm sure it'll save me a few quid if I move to a house with the right size doors or buy new ones.
