AnkerWork M650 Wireless Lavalier Microphone by Anker, Pro Noise Cancellation, Swap Colorful Covers, 2-Channel Quality Pickup, 200m Transmission, 15H Battery, Easy to Use for Vlogs, Not for Conference

I own a DJI Mic. I own 2 sets of this AnkerWork M650. In every single respect, the M650 towers over the DJI Mic. It features 24-bit audio recording to the TXs and unlike the DJI Mic, you only have to plug the case into your computer to access files off both TXs. Unlike the DJI Mic, the M650 works flawlessly with the GODOX GAC-IC14 Mi Hot Shoe to USB-C Digital Audio Adapter Cable, allowing me to capture embedded two channel 24-bit audio directly into my camera. Many negative reviews complain about two things that I find irrelevant: 1. The ANC function of this unit (a feature the DJI Mic does not offer on theirs for good reason). Just turn it off and forget about it. How are you going to complain about a feature that is totally optional and not something the competitors offer anyway? 2. The mic capsule sound. Plug a lav in it. I use the Weishan RDDJ-LAV-2MIC-IV lavaliers and they sound fantastic with these. I really don't find myself using my DJI Mic anymore because of how much I prefer these. You are doing yourself a great disservice in overlooking AnkerWork or Soundcore products... they are legitimately high quality and the best value I've seen out there for this type of product.

To start, I shoot everything with a Sony Mirrorless camera. This coming with a TRS was a solid plus for me. I think mics ultimately come down to three main things when comparing. Sounds quality, build quality, and user interface. So I’ll breakdown those three in comparison to the two other big contenders. Sound Quality: I think the sound quality was fine. With the internal mic, it’s not the best out there, but also not the worst. In comparison to the DJI and Rode I would say it’s on par, maybe a bit more tinny but the sound quality isn’t too noticeable unless you do a side-by-side comparison. The noise canceling ‘works’ but is a little gimmicky. I think it’s best for emergency situations or on the go iPhone vlogging if you really need to hear the subject. 90% of the time I use a Purple Panda lav mic to hide the big mic on the shirt, and going that route, all three sound the same, and generally background noise isn’t an issue either. Build Quality: The build quality feels cheaper than that of the more bulky DJI, but it wasn’t to the point that I was worried about it breaking. The magnet on the clips of the transmitters is strong enough to where I would feel confident about putting it on somebody’s shirt or even something thicker like a suit, and know that it would stay on the subject. The charging case works well to protect everything, I’m confident that thing could take a beating if the opportunity came up. It’s Anker so nothing I would say feels ‘cheap.’ User Interface: Okay, this is where this device shines. It comes with a charging case that has both a USB-C and Lightning connector so you can always record to something with a full battery no matter where you are. So that right there is a big advantage over the Rode. The touchscreen interface is also much nicer than that of the DJI. Again, I shoot on a mirrorless so for me it’s as simple as plug and play. The best user interface you can get. So overall, decent sound quality (best used with a lavalier), good build quality, especially on the case, and the best user interface you can get makes this a better choice than the Rode for sure, and the DJI for the price.

These mics are excellent. I use them to record voice during meetings and conferences. I have used them in large echo-y rooms without any issues. Their build-in noise suppression has been great for these situations. I find the battery to be satisfactory, lasting anywhere from 3–5 hours between charges, with the case providing a super fast recharge. The bluetooth connectivity has been excellent. The only trouble I run into--just from time to time--if I take the mics out of the case too fast, without letting them sit in the case for a couple seconds, they sometimes fail to connect properly. I just quickly drop them back into the case, wait 2 seconds, and pull them out again.

UPDATE: Anker was kind enough to reach out to assist with my sound quality and audio issues. After troubleshooting a few different things, I found that Anker's suggestion of recording directly to one of the transmitter mics (which each has a 7-hour record limit 🤯) made the audio quality sound MUCH better than connecting directly to my iPhone. Apparently iPhones automatically increase the gain with no ability to adjust 👎. When I recorded from the transmitter and uploaded it to my Mac to edit, the quality was what I was hoping for; warm, de-noised, and much clearer to listen to. Though it's not a perfect setup, Anker's assistance in sourcing the issue and helping fix it made me decide to stick with this setup in my bag when I'm on the go. Thanks Anker! _____ I'm a big fan of Anker products, and I was excited for this product to release. Unfortunately the mic and audio quality just isn’t worth the $200-$250 price tag. The mics feel too lightweight and plastic-y, which would be fine if the audio quality was decent. That, however, is not the case. I create UGC and social ads with voiceovers, and recording my voiceover directly with my iPhone’s mic to the voice memo’s app sounded more clear and crisp than recording with the Anker wireless mics. I tried with and without its noise-canceling feature and there was still so much white noise behind my audio, it was useless. I have a cheaper Saramonic wireless lav mic that sounds leaps and bounds better. The receiver is nice for it’s easy to read display, but plugging it into my iPhone didn’t feel secure, and attaching it stops me from being able to mount my phone on a tripod when shooting vertical as it’s the receiver gets in the way. I was hoping for a quick and easy solution to record higher quality audio on the go, but this set up just didn’t do the trick.

Long Term Use Update: I have been using these for a few years now and they are still working great! Batteries still last a long time and everything is just as it was when I first bought it. Now they are $100 which is as steal and probably the best value mics out there, I think I paid $200 for them. I love the receiver still, the features and touch screen on it is the best in the market. Used them on many shoots and they have proven to be reliable. Audio quality is good and now with ai tools, I can edit the audio and make it sound excellent. I love how run and gun these are. Other Review: I had some issues at first (see below) but the company reached out and sent me some new ones and they work great no issues. Their customer service was excellent, very helpful and they promptly acknowledged my issues and resolved them fairly. I will keep using these for all my video shoots. (Old review) I really liked these mics. They seemed to work well. Audio quality is decent...but that doesn't mean anything if they don't save your audio files. I had a video shoot yesterday for a project where the client was paying $2k. I had the receiver plugged into my camera so it would record the audio directly to the sd card. I was also very careful to hit record on the receiver for every take so I would have some backup audio files saved on the microphone. I had maybe 15-20 takes each about 8min. On a few of the takes I did not have the audio gain on the camera adjusted correctly, but I thought, "no worries, I'll just use the audio that the microphone had saved to its internal storage since I had also recorded it to internal. Well now it's the next day and I go to pull off those audio files and there are only 3 there. Only the last 3 files that I had recorded. All the other files are gone. Since my mic failed me it cost me this $2k job. Do not rely on them. Spend the extra money and get the DJI or Rode mics just for the reliability. Who knows what else would fail if I were to continue using them.

For context: I'm a content creator who's been in the game for a while now, and I understand and value the importance of high quality audio. I ordered 4 different lav mics at different price points, these being the highest end ones I got. As compared to the $80 pair, the sound quality was almost identical, even when I pulled the audio into pro tools and thoroughly analyzed it at all different gain levels and noise cancellation levels. I do love the magnetic clip, the charging case, and the user interface, but there are a couple connectivity issues that kill the product. I had these plugged into an iPhone and recorded multiple videos. To my dismay, when I went and played them back, audio cut out fora few seconds at a time, and there wasn't any error message on the receiver throughout the whole session. Another issue then popped up, when I was recording, the receiver displayed that it 'lost connection was lost to the transmitter.' I was two feet away from the receiver, so that truly is a bummer. I read through some reviews and found that the audio quality was a lot better if you recorded straight to the device. However, the whole point of a lav mic is convenience, and to have the audio directly attached to the video, rather than having to manually match up the audio to the video. Overall, this was a huge letdown because I really enjoy the aesthetic, build, and user interface. Noise cancellation is also 'meh', makes your voice sound very tinny. I love the shape, look, build, and user interface of these, but I'll be returning them

I’ve had these less than 1 month. The primary use is for streaming my daughter’s hockey games live where I’m running the camera and 2 other dads have Microphones calling the game. These things are awesome whether I’m using my iPhone or iPad. Sound quality is good and the noise cancelling feature allows us to block out a lot of the background noise in the arena. I’ve had probably 10 people come and check out our setup from other teams and these Microphones are definitely a reason people stop and ask what we’re doing. Pro’s 1. Sound Quality 2. Ease of Use 3. Quality of Construction 4. Charging case 5. Both iPhone and iPad adapters 6. Visual Display Con’s 1. Noise Cancelling on High gets pretty choppy in a noisy environment, Low works fine. 2. I’ve been told they’re expensive by those considering purchasing wireless microphones, but I feel like they’re priced pretty good considering what you get.

Ich habe schon lange darüber nachgedacht mir eine Funkstrecke zuzulegen. Zunächst bin ich bei der Sony (ECM W2BT) gelandet, die mich aus mehreren Gründen nicht 100% überzeugen konnte. Das Rode Wireless Go II wäre eigentlich mein Favorit gewesen, ich habe mich dann aber bei den Prime-Deal-Days vom Angebot der Ankerworks Funkstrecke hinreißen lassen. Und bin rückblickend froh diese und nicht die Rode Funkstrecke gekauft zu haben (ich konnte beide direkt miteinander vergleichen, Resultat weiter unten). 1. Verpackung und Verarbeitung 📦 Zunächst muss ich sagen: Chapeau. Das ist zwar noch nicht ganz auf Apple Niveau, aber viel fehlt nicht mehr, denn das Unboxing ist auch bei Anker ein Erlebnis. Alles ist gut und sicher verpackt. Das Herzstück bildet das (Lade)Case mit den beiden Sendern und dem Empfänger. Verarbeitung ist super, hier gibt's nix zu meckern. 2. Funktion 🛠️ Den Sound übertragen tun viele Geräte, aber es kommt im Alltag dann eben doch viel auf die "Softskills" des Geräts an, also das Handling, Zubehör, Bedienkonzept, etc. Und hier hat Anker einige Highlights: - Magnethalterungen an Sendern (das erspart einem an normalen T-Shirts Falten durch den Clip) - Touch-Bedienung (und damit einfacherer Zugriff auf Funktionen wie Aufnahme im Sender, Noise Cancellation, ...) - Display auch bei Selfie ablesbar (da Display an Stirnseite und nicht oben angebracht ist) - Lightning-Anschluss integriert (allerdings nur Mono) - Case zum Laden und für Dateizugriff in Sendern - Deadcats im Lieferumfang - getrennte Konfiguration der Kanallautstärke 3. Sound & Reichweite 🎙️ Die Soundqualität ist sehr gut, vielleicht etwas basslastig. Hier lässt sich aber mit nem EQ in post noch einiges herumschrauben. Das Rauschen liegt auf einem marktübligen dem Niveau. Die Reichweite hat mich positiv überrascht, hier hat man auch in Innenräumen noch recht weit Empfang. Außen kommt man wohl (hab ich nur in youtube-Videos gesehen) auf die angegebenen 200 m. Die Mic-in's vertragen sich mit allen von mir getesteten Lav's, auch solchen, die z.B. beim Sony oder DJI Probleme durch Interferenzen haben (wie das Rode Lavalier Go). 4. Könnte besser sein ❌ Natürlich ist nicht alles gut und manches könnte besser sein - an- und ausschalten durch Case funktioniert sporadisch nicht - Analog-Output-Level etwas niedrig für Kopfhörer (auch in der Einstellung "high") - gain wirkt ausschließlich digital, kein Einfluss auf zu laute Eingangssignale - Lightning Anschluss nur mono (über das Camera-Kit und ein USB-Kabel geht's allerdings auch in Stereo) 5. Ankerwork M650 vs. Rode Wireless Go II ⚡️ Die beiden Funkstrecken arbeiten sehr ähnlich und auch die abgenommenen Stimmen klingen sehr ähnlich. Das Rode klingt aus meiner Sicht eine Nuance offener und brillanter, in Sachen Rauschen geben sich die Konkurrenten nichts. Das Anker überzeugt allerdings in der B-Note: - Ladecase (Hardcase) - magnetische Halterungen für die Sender - Aufnahme im Sender über Empfänger steuerbar - individuelle gain Einstellung - Level im Selfie-Modus einsehbar - deutlich bessere Reichweite 6. Fazit Eine solide Funkstrecke mit guter Soundqualität zum guten Preis (v.a. wenn reduziert 😎). Aus meiner Sicht sind hier einige Dinge weiter gedacht als beim Rode.

Bought these to replace the Rode Wireless Go II and I'm really happy I did. The whole design of these microphones is first rate with the case having its own battery to recharge the mic's and the receiver. I find the circular design far more accomodating than the rectangular Rode or DJI wireless mics and find that it's invisible when attached under clothing. The box includes two microphones, one receiver and two adapters - one Apple lightning and one USB-C - so that you can plug the receiver directly into a smartphone. You also get a 3.5mm adapter lead so you can plug the receiver directly into a recording source - I plug mine into my Atomos Ninja 5 Recording monitor and it works brilliantly. Had zero issues with configuring these microphones on any device I've used them with - literally just plug-and-play on my Macbook. They're super-easy to set up from the receiver with a beautifully designed interface that lets you set up each mic different if required. I've had no problems with sound dropping out like I used to get constantly on the Rode Wireless Go IIs. I often record video at the beach and walk a long way from the camera and receiver and it never fails to record. That said, there's also on-device recording which you can enable for safety purposes so even if you did exceed maximum broadcast distance everything would still be recorded. Audio quality is top notch - better in fact than the Wireless Go II - crisp and clear audio everytime. I can't believe they cost just $100 when the Rodes were just under $300. Highly recommended.

I bought these as I work as a videographer and I was looking for a good wireless microphone that'd be convenient on the move and quick to set up. I had a chance to test them out today and they are truly worth the money. The case for them is really well organised, sturdy, looks good and will charge them for you on the move as well. The microphones themselves are discreet enough whilst also having the ease of being magnetised as well as clip on. I was impressed by the receiver in multiple ways. Firstly it can clip on but the clip has impressively been designed to be the same size as a horseshoe mount so that it can be mounted to your camera easily. It gives clear instructions on initial start up on controls for the touchscreen, and then from there you can monitor both microphone audio levels and battery levels together as well as view them singularly. The AI noise cancelling was beyond my expectations - I was testing them in a noisy office environment and the low setting cut out majority of the noise without effecting the speaker audio much whilst the high noise cancelling completely cancelled the noise out and had a little effect on audio but not to the determent of it being unusable. They are so good.
