Has the bottom element not working been corrected or is there a possibility the units that are shipped today will have the same issue?

There has been a number of questions and comments regarding the back burner not glowing red. I contacted Hamilton Beach customer service. Their answer is below. It is not an issue and perfectly reasonable and logical. Thank you for contacting us. We will be happy to assist you. To achieve uniform baking it requires the front and rear lower elements to be set at different watts. There is a distinct difference in the appearance of the glow. This prevents excessive heat application in the bottom, and insufficient heat application in the bottom front of baked items. The back heating element will not illuminate, as the other elements. This is the design of the appliance. If you have any other questions or concerns, please reply to this email and do not discard the appliance. Just got mine and use of oven produces terrible burnt plastic smell which seems slightly better on a second try. Anyone else with this issue?

I just got a new toaster (different brand). It instructed to push down lever as though toast was in it once or twice. That I would notice a smell but that should be gone by the third time. I think it's a new item thing. Hopefully it's gone away by now!

Does this oven come with a cooking pan?

It does. Check the add. It advertised that it includes the baking pan, the rack, crumb pan in the video and also at the end of the add. All three are included. That said, measure the space you are putting it. I had to return it due to size. My space was to small. I got a smaller version that included the baking pan.
