- JUMBO SUNFLOWER SEEDS, Mega No Salt, 5.5-Ounce (Pack of 12)

Folks these are the best sunflower seeds in the world! These are unsalted and so they do not tear up your mouth like regular seeds found at gas stations etc. They are good size seeds so very easy to break with your teeth. I used Sunflower seeds twice to try and quit chewing tobacco (which I had used to quit cigarettes about 5 years ago). The first time I quit with Frito Lay/David salted seeds which I found tore up my mouth worse then the Copenhagen pouches chewing tobacco lol! The salted seeds further reduced my sense of taste drastically where even spicier foods started to taste bland.The second time I used these Jumbo Sunflower seeds and these have not only helped me stay off of the tobacco but they also help me stay awake and 100% alert at my desk job (Engineering) without coffee & energy drinks-VERY IMPORTANTLY-These do not tear up my mouth at all or reduce sense of taste. The Jumbo Seeds also have very few duds compared to even David sunflower seeds which are sold in gas stations etc so naturally they should have less duds since they have such a high turnaround compared to Jumbo seeds which are only available online-I don't know how Jumbo achieves such exceptional quality but there is no doubt the producers are an honest company more interested in customer satisfaction rather than the bottom line ($). I am writing this review after I just had to utilize regular salted David brand sunflower seeds to stay awake during a 30 hour 2000 mile drive. Believe me...the Jumbo brand unsalted seeds even taste better than the salted David ones and many times better than the junk Frito Lay ones. If Truck drivers knew about these David seeds and how good they were, believe me, you would find them at every truck stop instead of all the salted garbage ones. Buy these and you won't be sorry. The extra dollar compared to store brand seeds is worth your health and sense of taste. BTW the reason I ran out of the Jumbo seeds on my drive was because grandpa, grandma, my wife and one of my kids are all hooked on these as well now and they finished my weekly 10 bags of seeds so I didn't have enough time to buy/ship before the trip. I've ordered 4 boxes/40 packets in the last month alone. Try eating that many David or Frito Lay seeds and you'll probably end up in the hospital because of the salt lol.

Got my big O’ box of seeds today. Got the 12 pk of 5.5 oz seeds. It’s a lot! Very happy. Lots of seeds for the price. 5 mg of sodium per serving. Huge difference from regular seeds. Natural taste takes a little getting used to but they are good. But they are fresh seeds with a nice pop! Very pleased. They allow me to munch around on sunflower seeds and keep my mouth occupied while keeping my salt intake in check.

I wanted to express my disappointment with this product. I have purchased this before with no issues. This time around it seems as if I received a batch of burnt sunflower seeds. I have tried to eat 3 bags and every other seed is burnt. I tried to send it back but there is a no return policy on this product. Hopefully there can be something done to resolve this situation.

This is a product that was purchased for my husband, who likes to eat sunflower seeds, so I'm going with his star rating on it, though I have some of my own thoughts. Naturally. So he's the primary user, and he has no complaints, and was very emphatic on that. He purchased them because they don't have added salt, and he thought it would totally make my day if he used sunflower seeds that weren't heavily coated in the stuff. It totally does, babe. It totally does. It's kind of like a movie I saw with Bill Murray many years ago...baby steps, and that can be how you start a journey to things that are better in your life, right? So as to my thoughts...we've had these for a couple of months I think, the best buy date is still a few months into the future, so that's fine. There's a lot of these in this case though, and for sunflower seeds storage in the fridge can optimize their endurance. Rancid seeds are no fun, and it's warmer where we live, so I think that causes things to bite the dust quicker. But with 12 of these bags in a case, I think that can also be more of a challenge to find the fridge space to do that, because produce takes up a lot of space in our fridge. I love me my veg. So unless you're going to be going through these like a machine gun spits out bullets, if they have a smaller package size of these I'd go with it or you could get waste. I also think that as I look at the seeds, I'm not as sure that I agree with the Jumbo designation, but again. My hubby is totally happy with them, and sizing matters can be a matter of opinion. I tried a couple and didn't see anything wrong with them, and I love that you can actually taste the seeds themselves because their flavor isn't being smothered to death by salt.

I work in an office job and I like to munch absentmindedly while staring at my computer screen. I’m using sunflower seeds as an aid to lose a bit of weight. By keeping my mouth occupied with them I can go all day without indulging in less healthy choices. I started with regular sunflower seeds and after a week of eating them pretty consistently I was losing weight but my mouth was very raw from all the salt. So I searched out different seasonings that contained lower sodium until I found Bigs: Franks Red Hot Buffalo Wing flavor seeds. I have purchased many packs of these and enjoy the taste, but after a few more weeks into my new sunflower seed addiction I noticed my lips and mouth were raw again. I couldn’t find any brands in my local convenience stores that stocked no salt/seasoning and because of this I tried raw sunflower seeds thinking they may be a good alternative. I was very wrong about that, the raw seeds were awful. So I got on amazon in search of decently priced no salt roasted seeds with good reviews. Having gotten through a couple bags of these no salt seeds, I can say that I’m going to need to purchase another case very soon. When they say jumbo they mean jumbo (see photo), these seeds are HUGE. Contrary to what other reviews about this product say, I have found these seeds to have a nice subtle roasted taste. These do not taste like raw seeds but are significantly different texture wise then ones with salt and seasoning. I have come across a few bad seeds but nothing any more substantial than buying a random bag from the corner gas station. I just really wish they were like other brands and had a resealable opening. Pros: Roasted flavor Less than 500 calories a bag** My mouth and lips are no longer raw from traditionally salted sunflower seeds Cons: Bags do not seal up ** I’m not sure what size bag the nutritional facts came from on the pictures here on amazon but there serving size per container of the 5.5oz bags I received is 2.6 (not 5). Sure, you could do the math but at quick glance it was a bit of a shock when I looked at the pics on amazon after ordering and saw 5 servings listed per bag.

If you use a typical sunflower seed brand from your local grocery store, then these are going to taste bland & just like plain bird food. Instead of switching cold turkey to these, what I have done is mix in a couple bags of these with my normal sunflower seeds. This way, I can find some middle ground between the two extremes. Instead of either having every sunflower seed loaded down with salt, or every sunflower seed having no salt at all, I've found a happy medium that I can still enjoy. Maybe eventually I'll mix it up & move towards 3 parts unsalted & 1 part salted... but right now I've been doing 1 part salted & 1 part unsalted and the taste is still great. Overall, these sunflower seeds are great. No sour tasting ones in the several bags I have tried. Nice jumbo sized and a great snack!

I waited a little while to write this review because I wanted to see if I got used to the lack of salt. I love sunflower seeds. I munch on them all day long, as they are a very nutritious food, and also pretty inexpensive. However, the last time I visited the doctor, he advised me that my blood pressure was in the "high normal" range. He advised me that while it wasn't anything to be to worried about now, I should look to cut back my sodium intake a bit. Since I consume a lot of salted sunflower seeds, I figure this was the first place to start. I was worried at first that unsalted seeds would taste to bland, and at first they did, as if my taste buds were screaming for salt. Over the next few days though, I seemed to get accustomed to the lack of salt, and started enjoying the actual taste of the seed. Really the only negative I have about this product is that despite the lack of any seasoning, the price is no less expensive than the salted and flavored varieties. My advice would be to first start with their lightly salted flavor before dropping down to the completely unsalted, because if you don't they will taste a bit like cardboard until your taste buds adjust.

PROS: Salt free Roasted In shell Delicious Cons: Bag is not resealable. These are the best sunflower seeds I have ever tasted. I will definately be buying more. These are salt free so if you like salt these might not be for you or may be an aquired taste. I personally do not put salt on anything and have been searching for salt free sunflower seeds for a long time. Sunflower seeds are the only thing that keep me awake while working odd hours. On my journey finding these I bought several well known brands that were much too salty even the reduced sodium and lightly salted versions and had lots of burned seeds. Not these! I thought I might need to become aquired to this salt free version but it was love at first bite. Great, great, great! Thank you for making an unsalted alternative! No more raw feeling mouth.
