Tongue in Cheek strategy game
This is a great game to play with friends on a girls night, or with mixed company if they don’t mind the joke. The instructions are super clear, and the game design makes you feel like you’re in a period drama. It’s always a hit when I bring it to a party!

We laughed a lot!
My family - ages 12-adult - loves games. Deadly Dowagers holds up well in our collection. We are long-time fans of games like Settlers of Catan, Dominion, Feast for Odin, Puerto Rico, etc. Deadly Dowagers is not as long as some we enjoy (like Through the Ages, which takes ages to play), and this is a good thing. The rules are clear, the art is lovely and in character with the plot, the game pieces feel nice, and the historical backstory of the situation of the characters in the game is wryly funny. ("Except that you will inherit your fortune. We cannot even earn ours." ... "Perhaps Margaret is right. Piracy is our only option.") Recommended for ages 12+ because younger kids may not get the joke. (Use of deadly implements to speed your inheritance upon the demise of your husband is a bad idea, not just because of the infamy that accrues to you thereby.) Additionally recommended that reassurance be offered to any husbands present that their wives are not, in fact, dreaming of an inheritance.

Great card drafting tableu game, with great art!
Absolutely great game with great art. Also, perfect game for either national women's month or Halloween season! The mechanics were smooth and you get into a rhythm as you play. It's nice that everyone takes their turns at the same time, it cuts down on the time a lot. The humor is dark and delightful in this game as well. Highly recommend!

Quick to learn!
This is a fun, quick game. I have only played it with two players, but I think it would be even more fun (and chaotic - in a good way!) with a larger group. The artwork is beautiful and you can tell a lot of effort was put into the details of the game. The goofy names of the husbands are a favorite of mine. The instructions provide clear explanations for how everything works, and we were able to pick up the basics in one game. I only give it four stars out of five because I would personally like a little bit more options regarding cards to play (such as different investments or business opportunities). I feel there could be expansions added to add greater variety to the game. Overall, however, I found this to be an entertaining game to get out and play a couple rounds. I will likely keep it in the rotation for game day because it is so quick to play and easy to learn. Although the theme is a bit dark, it’s handled in a way that’s good for a few laughs.

Great game for you and your friends!
Such a fun game! Also great if you are introverted or have introverted friends because you play in rounds but everyone does their actions simultaneously, so there isn’t much pressure aside from remembering to look up and see what others are doing!

Great game that holds your interest
This was a fun game that our whole family liked. It doesn't take too long to play and the fact that you are playing some of the game simultaneously means you don't have to wait forever for your turn and the drafting of the cards makes you feel like you have more choices than if you were just dealt a hand. This made it attractive to those or our family that don't like the longer games like Terraforming Mars, Wingspan, Castles of Burgandy, etc., that we like to play. Also is nice to play in between some longer ones. It was easy to learn and the artwork is nice.

Really fun game
My friend got this while we were at Gencon 2023 and out of the 12 or so games we bought between us both families liked this game best. It's just so dark themed, and fun at the same time. We liked it so much we got our own compy from Amazon because our local game store didn't have it.
