Great all-in-one hub: Matter bridge + IR remote + temp/humidity monitor ✅🏠
I’ve been using the SwitchBot Matter Hub 2 to connect my SwitchBot devices to Wi-Fi and bring them into my smart home setup, and it’s been very reliable. Setup was straightforward, and it quickly became the “central” device I use most. What I like ✅ • Matter support is a big plus for smoother integration and future-proofing 🔗✨ • Works well as a Wi-Fi thermometer/hygrometer — readings update regularly and are easy to check 📈🌡️ • The IR remote control feature is super handy for controlling older devices (TV, fan, heater, AC) from the app 📺❄️ • Smart remote functions are responsive and easy to automate • The built-in light sensor is useful for simple automations (e.g., turn on a lamp when it gets dark) 💡 • Compatible with Alexa & Google Assistant for voice control 🗣️ What could be better ⚠️ • Needs 2.4GHz Wi-Fi only, so if your router is set to 5GHz-only you’ll need to adjust settings • IR control depends on placement (line-of-sight works best), so location in the room matters Bottom line: If you want one device that links SwitchBot to Wi-Fi and also adds temperature/humidity monitoring + IR control, this is a really useful upgrade and worth it ✅🔌 Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Smart, reliable and great value
Great smart home hub with easy setup and excellent Matter support. The built-in temperature and humidity sensors are a nice bonus, and it works perfectly with older IR devices like TVs and Set-Top Boxes. This product is reliable, versatile and great value.

A Hub that I want to have on display
The SwitchBot Hub 2 works great. It connects my SwitchBot products to my Apple Home ecosystem via Matter. I have given it 4 stars as I would like to see the current limited on the number of exposed Matter devices increase. I know this has been increased on the Hub 3 but I would like to see this extended to the Hub 2 via a firmware update if possible. This is the only smart home hub that I have actually out on display as it shows the room temperature and has virtual on screen button that you can customise. I have the Hue Bridge, Aqara M2, IKEA Digeria and Smartthings Hub V3 and none of these are out on display as they aren't aesthetically pleasing and don't look like part of the home.

Effective in both Function and Cost
The SwitchBot hub 2 facilitates so much useful functionality within the SwitchBot ecosystem (and by extension, any smart home setup) that it's almost a necessity. Things like having our curtains close when it reads 24° is so simple, yet such a QOL improvement. The display is nice and bright, plus simple enough to set and have the relevant info to hand too.

More than just a hub
I purchased the Switchbot Hub 2 to accompany a Switchbot Universal Remote. I already owned a Switchbot Hub mini which sits at the other end of the house. I was interested to see which advances have been made since the release of the Hub mini. The Hub2 is easy to set up and was connected to my WiFi in seconds (once I'd remembered to disable MAC address filtering briefly on my router). I was able to 'move' some existing Switchbot devices and learned IR codes to the new Hub2 from my old Hub mini with a few button presses in the Switchbot app. Like the Hub mini, the Hub 2 is able to learn (and send!) IR commands for external devices such as TVs - allowing you to use your phone as a remote control - and also connects to Switchbot devices such as meters (temperature/humidity), door sensors, the universal remote control and other products I do not own, allowing access to some devices over the internet. The big advantage of the Hub 2 over the Hub mini is that it includes its own temperature/humidity sensors complete with a clear, lit display. The display can show the temperature/humidity that the Hub2 sensor reads (the sensor is on the usb cable) or can be set to display the temperature/humidity of any other Switchbot meters in the 'home'. It would be nice if the display could automatically alternate between sensors though. As with the Hub mini, alerts can be set for certain temperature/humidity conditions and these can now sound on the Hub 2 itself. The Hub 2 comes complete with a power adaptor (useful as it requires a 2A supply) and is very sleek in appearance. The Switchbot app allows much customisation of the Hub2 including the usual WiFi and cloud service (Google Assistant/Alexa/IFTTT) options. In addition to the Hub mini's settings, the Hub 2 includes display options and calibration settings as well as settings for Matter. As I don't own Matter devices from other manufacturers, I haven't been able to use this function fully but one added advantage for me has been that my various Switchbot temperature meters are now available as triggers for Google Assistant routines whereas 'pre-matter' Google home just showed temperature and humidity readings (although the ability to trigger 'routines' has always been available in Samsung's Smartthings app). Two configurable 'touch' buttons are available towards the bottom of the display. These can be programmed to activate 'Scenes' utilising other Switchbot devices or IR commands from this (or other) hubs. Or they can be hidden. The (older) Hub mini is a great device and has many uses beyond tying Switchbot devices together and making them available online. The Hub 2 is a worthy upgrade with its sensors and it future-proofs the ecosystem for when Matter products are more widely available.

The Brains Behind the Bots (But at a Price)
The SwitchBot Hub 2 is a must-have for anyone serious about integrating SwitchBots into their smart home setup. It's the key to unlocking remote control and voice assistant integration (Alexa, Google Home, etc.), which is a game-changer. What surprised me most was the built-in humidity sensor. It actually proved incredibly useful during our recent house showing! We discovered our living room was more humid than we realized, and thanks to the Hub 2's alert, we were able to address it with a dehumidifier. The Hub 2 works seamlessly with our SwitchBots, and the app provides a ton of customization options. I love the onboard display – it adds a nice visual element and provides quick access to key information. My only real gripe is the price. It's a bit steep for what is essentially a bridge device. However, if you want to maximize your SwitchBot experience and utilize features like remote control and voice commands, the Hub 2 is definitely worth considering.

Matter compatible, making Home Assistant use a breeze
This is my second Hub 2. The first is in the kitchen and speaks to my Switchbot Blind Tilt and my Switchbot Lock. Setup is really easy, and I've never had any problems with it dropping off the WiFi like you sometimes have to deal with, with dinner IoT devices. It has a built in temperature and humidity sensor on the power cable if you want to use it, and that too can be exposed via Matter. I have 4 outdoor temperature and humidity sensors connected to mine (all exposed over Matter), but the thing I love most and the Hub 2 is that you can change the source of the temperature on the display. Mine is showing the temperature of one of the outdoor sensors, in a tree in my garden so I always have an idea of the temperature outside. The one in the kitchen is set to show the temperature of the back porch, so I know if it's warm enough to leave the door open and get some free heat from the sun haha. Definitely recommend for the features that I use. It also has the ability to send IR commands to other equipment which I have tested and it can successfully turn on my bedroom TV, but sadly the remote functions are not (yet?) exposed over Matter. The matter part of this is solid and unlike a certain well known brand of lighting that is matter compatible, I've never had this randomly dissapear from the matter controllers it is connected to. Home Assistant friendly, I have control over my blinds and my Switchbot lock via Matter and all 4 outdoor temperature sensors and the ones built in to both hubs all regularly update in home assistant.

Great for Home Automation
There are a great many reasons why you may want to have a SwitchBot hub, mine are simplistic, but I researched enough of what the device can and cannot do before buying it to use in my home automation. First, although I gave it 5 out of 5, it does lack something important making it really a 4/5. The device is only capable of controlling IR (infrared remote controlled) devices. It cannot use RF (radio frequency) remote signals at all. This means the majority of older ceiling fan and LED lighting fixtures are not going to be something you could connect to the hub and use your voice assistant to control, turning them on, off, changing speed or brightness, etc. On the other hand, it connects very easily to the SwitchBot indoor/outdoor temperature and humidity sensors, which is primarily why I bought the hub so as to know either by asking my voice assistant or looking at the SwitchBot App on my phone to see the current real time temperatures of where the sensors are located inside and outside of my home. By assigning different names to each sensor (based on its location) I could easily ask: “Alexa (or Hey Google as I tried it on both systems) what is the temperature of The Outside?” And it would give me a reply of the temperature. The hub also once set up with a SwitchBot account can keep your temperature and humidity readings in their cloud based storage if you wish to maintain some form of record over time as how the temperatures change. The hub itself shows you (when the display is on) the current temperature and humidity it is sensing. You can choose metric or imperial notation and I found that the range was excellent from where the hub is located in the center of the main floor to all of the sensors: upstairs, basement, deck and outside our front door. The furthest sensor is approximately 25 feet from the hub but every sensor sends their data in real time to the phone when the app comes up and I wish to see the readings. One thing you may wish to know is when attempting to upload the saved data from the sensors to your phone, they use bluetooth to send the signals to your phone, They do not appear to send them to the hub then to your phone and thus I found that if I was too from from a sensor, I could not download its data to see a graph of the values over time. Moving my phone closer (within 12-15 feet) solved this issue. Even though the hub was beside me within a few feet, it was the phone ‘talking’ directly with the sensor that was the issue. The hub is what you connect to your existing wifi network. Another example of seamless operation is that I have 3 wifi networks in my home, and after setting up the SwitchBot hub 2 on one, and linking it to my Alexa account, it was un-linked from Alexa, and reconfigured to another network then linked to a Google Home account in a minute. After assigning the sensors to the Google home rooms, it was as if it was always there, ask the same voice command “Hey Google what is the temperature of The Outside” and it answers immediately. This is an extremely versatile device and robust in its design and functionality. I would recommend it for the situation I had to anyone interested in using it for their own home automation system. Just remember that it does not support RF controlled devices, but SwitchBot has numerous devices that connect to it for use in your home and for home automation applications.
