If you’re used to the quality of the old dvd releases, I think you’ll be happy with them too. That being said, if you like special features, I wouldn’t get rid of the DVDs. I was less disturbed by the 2nd one but it was still pretty chilling. I was not much of a horror fan back then, but i've come around lately, and after binging the TV series on hulu and having a blast, I decided I had to revisit the original films and it's a joy coming back to it afterward. I haven't checked out the bonus features yet, but the picture is really grainy, especially the first film, but I think that is actually desirable for a horror film made in this time period. If you haven't seen these films yet, here's a little warning... or pro-tip... whatever you want to call it. The 2nd movie appears to be a remake at first, as they do a short re-cap of the original film, however things are slightly different than they were in the film... that's because they could not get the rights to the original film to show clips from it... that's right, they couldn't get the rights to their own movie. So here's what you do, and there's even a video on youtube of Bruce Campbell explaining this, Remember how the first movie ends... watch evil dead 2, and slightly dis-regard the recap up until the point where the scene syncs up with the ending of the first movie, and there you have your canon order of events for this series. I believe you have to do something a bit similar for the third film, but since that's not a part of this package, i'll leave that out of this review.
