Drill the rivet of the silver ball thing on the end and remove the ball. Put some weight and muscle into it when you get to the clog in order to push thru it and go back and forth a few feet at a time to get it all out and then run water down for a bit. Filling a 5 gallon bucket and pooring it down the toilet a few times will help wash any part of the clog left out. This thing works, but do not stick this down your pipe with the stupid silver ball they send attached to it or it will get caught in your pipes and i would only send this down a proper house to to city mainline cleanout or down a toilet drain with the toilet removed. My plumbing is pvc schedule 40 all the way to the city mainline, other types of plumbing might not work as well and may damage a clay pipe but i doubt it, however i would consult a plumber on that. It cleared a serious total dog hair/toilet paper/poop clog that was 68 feet from my toilet where i sent it down. This is not something to clean your sink or tub lines out with, get the smaller version of it for that. Hope this helps.**Oh yeah, this takes some arm strength and a little getting used to as it wants to twist up on you as you send it down and it makes turns thru the plumbing, it is serious spring steel and puts some torque on the user until you learn to flip the reel over as needed as it wants to twist on you. Also, i took a dremel with a stone tip and drilled a hole in the tail end and tied a heaver duty piece of masons twine to it and then to the center of the reel in case you got near the end and dropped it down the hole, that will catch it. You have to use a stone bit to drill it, drill bits will not drill spring steel at all.

This sewer drain snake works good for clogs that are accessible by a clean out. It came with an antirust coating like a light grease or oil. Works great! It won't fit around a tight bend so keep that in mind if you need a lot of flexibility. I'm glad I bought.

Needed to enter thru a 1.5 inch pipe into main line so had to take and turn around to use . Rod ball and stiff point would not enter 1.5 inch pipe and 30 degree pipe bend. After turned around ground point on flat rod and used worked good to clear main line clog.

This product is crazy. It's sturdy, and it worked, but it doesn't wrap back up! At all. It took a strong person an hour. And it's the only 100 foot product of it's type on the market !
