It does offer lay-on-the-table protection for the front and back, but I would recommend a back protector or back skin for extra protection and less worry, and a plastic screen protector or a very thin tempered glass. Personally, I have a glossy best skins ever and no screen protector. This combination works perfectly and now I don't have to worry about my phone getting scratched. The back facing camera is protected by a raised rubber edge around that corner. Rubber offers soft protection all around the phone and has raised edges to the front and back protecting the glass from impact. I think that this case, its for those who want to see their phones properly from both sides, or if you just tired from prop cases.
