Easy, Professional Trimming for your dog
Received my Scaredy Cut Scissors quickly (and with free trimming scissors! 😃) Quality of scissors apparent in weight and design. My Patterdale/Lakeland Terrier has always been a 'challenge' to trim 😕 Not keen on electric trimmers and using standard trimming scissors was difficult to get an even cut. The variety of comb guides supplied were easy to change and give a range of length of cut. Having made initial first cuts, final smoothing trim was extremely easy to achieve, and the results were wonderful! Towsers coat is now shorter and smoother than it has been for a long time, and he's much more comfortable in the Summer heat 😃 The cost of the scissors has easily been out-weighed against what it would have cost at a professional groomers (IF he would of co-operated!) There is little noise as the scissors cut, and I feel more confident that I am able to use scissors near him safely. For a first attempt at trimming Towser I am very impressed with the ease of use and professional finish I can achieve. I would highly recommend this product for anyone who is worried about trying to trim their dogs coat, and although he is not a large dog (and with a little more practice) I'm sure I will get quicker 😉 After many months of searching to find a solution to how to trim Towser, I now have an easy, safe way to achieve tidy results! Thank you Scaredy Cuts! 😃😃😃

Great product!!!
I have a really friendly Yorkierussell who loves everyone but the dog groomer! She has to be muzzled and still tries to bite any one with clippers. I tentatively tried these scissors by combing her and sneaking in a cut! With the help of a small biscuit she sat like a well trained show dog - she is neither lol - and let me cut her everywhere even her face!! Omg, she loved the combing, the attention and just sat there evening rolling over on her back. I am amazed how easy they are to use. I now have a stress free dog who will now get a haircut as and when she needs it. I will save £22 a visit so these scissors will save me money for the cut, the petrol for transport and the wait for the appointment. So glad I bought them and the videos are really helpful for us novices. I bought the blue ones as no pink where available but my dog does not know lol

Good, but slow for fine fur
Got these for our long haired birman cat. They work reasonably, but his fur is very fine and a lot of it slips out of the blades with each snip, so it would take far too long to do the whole cat with these. In the end I got these clippers Wahl Multi Cut Mains Dog Clipper Set & Instructional DVD Black which are quiet and do a really quick job of it. I still use these to tidy up around his chin and feet a little. I can see that they would be really good for a stiffer fur, or for animals that won't tolerate any noise at all.

Brilliant "Silent" Concept, but Be Prepared for a 2-Hour Marathon and a Choppy Finish
Overview ✂️🐩 The Scaredy Cut Silent Pet Grooming Kit is a truly clever solution to a common problem: the "clipper-phobic" pet. The concept of using specialised scissors with attachable guards to standardise cut length without the terrifying noise and vibration of a motor is brilliant. However, while it is a safe and silent alternative, it transforms a standard grooming session into an endurance test for both the owner and the animal. My Experience What would normally take 20 minutes with electric clippers took me the better part of two hours. Even with regular breaks, my pet wriggled a fair bit - and I don’t blame him! It is a slow, meticulous process that requires a pet to stay still for a duration most anxious animals can't manage. Despite watching tutorials and making multiple passes, the final result was quite choppy. Furthermore, the physical toll was unexpected; after two hours of constant snipping, I developed painful pressure points and "hot spots" on my fingers from the scissor loops. ✅ The Pros • Brilliant Guard Concept: The attachable combs make it virtually impossible to nick the skin, providing great peace of mind. • Truly Silent: Zero motor noise or vibration, making it perfect for pets that suffer a total meltdown with traditional tools. • High Safety: A great choice for sensitive areas like ears and paws where electric blades might be too risky for a jumpy pet. ❌ The Cons • Time Consuming: A full groom can take upwards of two hours, which is taxing for both the groomer and the pet. • Choppy Finish: Achieving a smooth, professional look is incredibly difficult; the results often look uneven compared to electric blades. • Ergonomic Strain: The repetitive motion can lead to significant hand fatigue and sore fingers during long sessions. ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Final Verdict I have since progressed to using electric clippers, which are significantly faster and produce a much neater finish. If you do not have a noise-sensitive pet, do yourself a favour and look into electric clippers. Brands like Andis and Masterclip offer excellent options for home use and there are plenty of online tutorials available to build your confidence to groom your pet at home. However, if your pet is truly "untouchable" by electronics, I salute you for persisting with this kit. 💡 Pro Tip: If you buy these, I highly suggest also purchasing a pair of Pet Thinning Shears to blend the "choppy" areas and even out your cut quicker. Essential Preparation Tips for Success If you are determined to make this kit work, proper preparation is the only way to minimise the "staircase" look: • Detangle Absolutely Everything: Any matting will stop the scissors dead. Use a high-quality dematting tool thoroughly before you pick up the scissors. • Bath and Dry First: A clean, fluffed coat stands up straight, allowing the guide combs to catch the fur more effectively. • The "Back-Brushing" Technique: Before each snip, use a comb to brush the fur against the direction of growth. This "poofs" the hair so the guard can catch it at a uniform height.

Brilliant Product
I was getting fed up of paying the groomers £30 every 4-5 weeks to cut my mini schnauzer's hair and when I tried it myself I kept giving him nicks. I spotted the Scaredy cut kit via news feed on facebook and decided to check out their website. After watching the video on their page, what they were and how to use them, I decided to give them a go. I'm so glad I did, these are great and will save me a fortune as I can do it myself without the need to visit a groomers. I started of well cutting my dog's hair and then the scissors went blunt, no problem, contacted seller and they sent me out a new pair straight away with an apology. When they arrived I finished of his hair and it looks better than when he comes out of the groomers. Even our vet asked who cuts his hair as it was a nice cut. My dog sits calmly while I'm doing his hair and seems to like it. I would highly recommend to anyone, they are a godsend.

These used to be brilliant, but aren’t any more?
I’ve been buying these for years and they have been amazing for a dog scared of clippers. However I have had to return the last two pairs I’ve ordered- they literally don’t cut the hair and would never get the job done. Have you changed the design or something?

Better in theory
Great idea if they were better made. They cut very well and surprisingly even. I was really happy until the screw came out and the fell apart after about 10 minutes of using them. I reattached everything and kept using the and tightened screw as I went. The finger holes are small, I have small hands so didn't put me off. When I finished the cut they had took the skin off my fingers. Looks like I'm sticking to the groomers!

What an excellent idea.
Excellent. The only criticism is they need to be sharper. But I got over that I took them to be sharpened. Ideal for my Wired Haired Fox Terrier who hated the noise of the electric clippers. And was stressing him and the groomer out. I don’t know who ended up the worse from the experience. Through the WHF terrier groups its a real debate if our terriers should be hand stripped or clipped. As owners have experienced skin irritations whilst their dogs have been stripped. So this is a great alternative as our dog hates the noise of the clippers. They are easy to use. A fabulous idea and I can honestly say he didn’t end up looking like the sheep dog on the Spec Saver advert. Now If you are based anywhere else other than the UK. You will need to YouTube it.

Excellent product; fantastic company.
I have never written a product review but my experience with this product is worth telling - and hopefully helpful to those that view it... I ordered the Scaredy Cut clipper set in December 2011, received the item in just a few days, and set out to use the largest comb (#6) with clippers on Jake, my 8 month old 60 lb labradoodle. While trying to change the combs out (it came with the smallest comb installed), the comb plate broke off the scissors and the plastic clip broke on the comb - wow I thought - complete junk!... After reading the few 'not so good' reviews here at Amazon I noticed that Matthew Michel of the Scaredy Cut company had replied to all with genuine concern and offers of assistance. I contacted the company by email immediately and received a response from Matthew within 3 hours. Here's what I was told - the plate is attached to the scissors with two spot welds that are extremely strong when in the correct place. Occasionally the spot welds are misplaced and the contact is weakened - which happened in my case. In addition the combs can be stiff at first use but once broken-in should work fine. Matthew suggested running them under warm water and pre-flexing so the combs are more pliable when attaching to the plate. Finally he offered to ship out a replacement set immediately with combs that he would pre-flex personally. I received the replacement kit in a few days with all combs pre-flexed and ready to go. Placed the #6 comb on the clippers and set to work. It took me about 2 hours total to do the whole pup - worked in 20 minute intervals with breaks between - I'm guessing a bit over an hour of actual cutting - enough to get a pretty good blister. Then did some trimming around the neck and face with smaller combs. I cut an incredible amount of hair - even clogged the vacuum cleaner! This was his first cut so I expect that maintaining it will be a bit easier and not so time consuming. Considering I have no previous experience with pet grooming, Scaredy Cut worked EXTREMELY well. Nothing describes the results better than a picture so I posted `before' and `after' shots with the product image at the top of the page. I didn't have the greatest `before' image, but I think you can tell Jake had an abundance of fur. The product worked perfect for me. Jake is much happier (and cooler!) without all the hair, and looks better too! The response and genuine concern from the company is exceptional. I highly recommend it for anyone who can't - or doesn't want to - use electric clippers, or shell out the money for professional grooming.

Amazing, easy to use
Because I am right handed I have to constantly turn my dog around or upside down to get his fur in the right direction to cut. Luckily he's okay with me (man)handling him! I put a towel down on my kitchen bench for the correct height and went to work. I love how easy peasy this is. My groomers would never quite get his length quite right.

Great customer service!
The product is pretty exciting and worked well on her long hair but, I like to keep my dog with a very short cut everywhere else. So even though the smallest blade, which was small, wasnt short enough I am beyond pleased. I reached out to Scaredy Cut via direct email and they were more than happy to help make it right! Thanks for the no nonsense, stress free help. I wish I had seen the tiny cut scissors when I first placed my order so I do suggest looking for them when you order, it will be worth it.
