I have to mix the Synthrapol in water first and add it to the machine immediately or do it in a bucket, agitate the tie-dye clothing, and then pour it all in the washer. **Q: What is the difference between Synthraphol and Retayne?** A: Retayne fixes dye to fabric and should be used to wash fabric that bleeds or may bleed PRIOR to using in a quilt or other project. Perfect...it did the lot AND the quilt felt fresh and soft. ps...I hand washed the quilt in my bath and drip dried it over the bath on a clothes airer.
