They are cut in very different /non-standard shapes but well made and thick pieces that will not bend. Their non std shapes makes the construction more challenging but each piece will only fit-perfectly in one combination so you know if it is the correct piece or not. This was harder for me because the image is not sharp and very purply/pink, being an impressionist painting, which made it more challenging but the final result is lovely.
