Perfect for Calyx Institute members
Works perfectly for a Calyx Institute T-Mobile "Sprout" membership. I inserted the sim, plugged it into a wifi router, turned it on, and got internet connectivity.

Works great, remote management, port forwarding works with carrier support
I've personally set up several of those Peplink modems and they work great. They aren't extremely fast but it got the job done. Our sites were somewhat remote so it may have been related to reception, so I'm still giving it 5 stars. The modems are a bit pricey but "you get what you pay for". I tried two others and they weren't good at all, Peplink is awesome though, the functionality is wonderful. They even have a cloud management system and you can see all of the modems in a single pane. You can create policies and apply them to all, can remote access. I'd recommend it. We used T-Mobile for Internet which I found to be the cheapest and easiest to set up. Had a dedicated account manager and she would register our SIM cards and tie them to our account. Could buy SIM cards in bulk online from other sellers. Make sure you get SIM cards that work with 4G though (depending on what the modem supports). Apparently SOME SIM cards only support 5G. I thought this was wrong information at first but I confirmed it with the carrier. That can be a gotcha. The modem does port forwarding too. I used the Peplink MAX BR1 and it was $300-500. Two SIMs for redundancy but works with one. I'd recommend to make sure the reception is good with a site like cell mapper. I actually did test it with a Verizon SIM and it worked fine too. There is a bad review on Amazon but if you look at the review it's because of a license key. But that's for extra features like multi-site VPN which is an optional add-on. For the main stuff you don't need anything extra. You can configure a site-to-site included, but using their VPN is an add-on feature. If you want to use a static IP, make sure the carrier supports it. T-Mobile did but I had to fill some extra form out for them to enable it.

ROCK SOLID PRODUCT - Support leaves a lot to be desired.
I have deployed several of these devices and they are AMAZINGLY rock solid. For the first time ever, I needed support today. My first concern? There is no phone for support. You have to place a ticket. This is a problem when you are down completely and need to resolve urgently. Placed a ticket around 4:00PM Eastern and got a reply in the middle of the night asking a basic question that I already covered in my original message. Now I could have to potentially wait many hours again. VERY unhappy with support of an otherwise AMAZING product. Quite sad.
