desertcart.com: Percy Jackson and the Olympians 5 Book Paperback Boxed Set (w/poster): 9781368098045: Riordan, Rick: Books Review: Great books for kids! - I’ve read the 2nd and 1st book so far and they are amazing! The box arrived in good condition, as well as books. However while reading there were some ink smudges and fade. But it is readable so 5 stars!! Review: Book 1 & 2 Review - I watched the movie before I read the book and to be honest...I enjoyed the movie! But that was BEFORE I read the book. Maaaann was I disappointed in the movie after reading the book. I totally understood why the movies didn't do well and why there weren't anymore made. The movie is essentially a complete rewrite of the book! I was shocked. I kept expecting scenes to play out like I saw in the movie but none of them did or if they did...it was few and far between. Percy Jackson. Diagnosed with ADHD but unbeknownst to him...he's a godling and that is just his survival instincts keeping him alive. He's constantly in trouble at school and while Grover is his best friend...not all is as it seems. Percy has been kicked out of school after school after school. He's always getting into fights. His mom is married to a jerk, but it's for his own good. Bizarre but true. Now! This book is a really good story! There is a lot of action, adventure, drama, and danger. Percy is sent on a quest to recover that which was stolen. He desires to save his mother from her fate, but a prophecy warns him that he will fail to save that which matters most. I have to say I like the book a million times more than the movie and I honestly wish that they had followed the book more than just creating their own storyline to make things "more interesting." I will say that I'm glad they toned down his attitude in the movie though. I felt that Percy's mouth was just too annoying. I mean...in some scenes I get it, but attitude all the time?! Give me a break! Couldn't he have been smacked upside the head at least ONCE by a god?! I mean...seriously?! It would have done him some good. I'm rating this book 4.5 out of 5 stars. I'm taking off half a star because that attitude just got on my last nerve and the fact that nothing ever happened to him to make him check it just rubbed me the wrong way. There are a lot of good moments in this book and so I'm looking forward to the next book in this series. The Sea of Monsters is book two in Rick Riordan's Percy Jackson series. The author picks the story up after the summer has passed and another school year is coming to an end. All has been proverbially quiet. No monsters, no screw-ups, no serious danger to threaten Percy. So it looks like he'll be able to come back to this school next year! But...of course...things aren't going to pan out that way. With a little help from a new "friend" at school, Percy is able to survive. But what's with the weird dreams of Grover at night? And there's danger at camp? What is going on? Well...chaos is about to rain down like hailstones on Percy, but at least he'll have some help along the way. Now! I watched the movie before reading the book and I have to say that once again...I'm disappointed in the way the movie was handled. Everything was twisted around and I honestly feel that the book is more adventurous and well done than the movie. Percy meets Tyson pretty quickly, but I'm honestly surprised that it takes Percy so long to see what Tyson really is. I'm glad that the author toned down Percy's attitude in this book. The last one he honestly got on my nerves. Granted any interaction with Ares is limited, but still. But of course, the author brings in a new character to irk my nerves...Tantalus. It takes a while to get Tantalus's story, but I'm glad when I did get why he was being punished. This story has a bit of a slower pace than the first book, but it's pretty satisfying overall. I am rating this book 4.5 out of 5 stars. I know this book is fiction, but honestly, there were more than a few times of where I felt the characters needed to have more sense than they do. Moving on to the next book and looking forward to the freshness to come of it not being tainted by a completely rewritten movie.

A Mythical Rollercoaster I'll Never Forget!
Okay, so my box set arrived a little worse for wear, which was a bummer. But honestly, the books themselves? Pure gold. I'm a huge mythology nerd, especially Greek and Roman, so diving into the Percy Jackson series was like finding my literary happy place. From the very first page of "The Lightning Thief," I was hooked. Rick Riordan has this incredible ability to take these ancient myths and make them feel completely fresh and relevant. He weaves them into a modern-day setting with such wit and humor that you can't help but get swept away. Percy himself is such a relatable character. He's got his flaws, he's sarcastic, and he's constantly getting into trouble – but he's also incredibly loyal and brave. You really feel for him as he navigates this crazy world of gods and monsters. And the supporting characters? Annabeth, Grover, and all the other demigods are just as compelling. They're not just sidekicks; they're fully fleshed-out individuals with their own struggles and strengths. What I love most about this series is how it makes mythology accessible to everyone. You don't have to be a scholar to understand what's going on. Riordan explains everything in a way that's easy to follow, but he never talks down to his readers. The action is non-stop, the humor is spot-on, and the emotional moments hit you right in the feels. I laughed, I cried, and I stayed up way too late turning pages. Each book builds on the previous one, creating this epic, interconnected story that's both thrilling and heartwarming. Even though my box arrived a bit damaged, the stories within were absolutely perfect. If you're a fan of mythology, adventure, or just plain good storytelling, you absolutely need to read the Percy Jackson series. It's a 5-star adventure that I'll treasure forever.

Okay so; I will be reviewing the books as a story and the physical look and quality of the paperbacks. Percy Jackson starts off being a "regular" twelve year old human boy, except he's not, he's a half-blood, half human, half god. We watch Percy grow up into an amazing hero, fight monsters and much more. The books are easy to read, fast paced and enjoyable. Now, the physical copies: I loved the covers, and if you line them up in order, they connect!! A but dented but truly gorgeous, small and cute, I loved carrying them around.
