Easy to set, get the right bait and it'll work.
Easy to set, and works great with the right bait. We had this set for a couple of weeks with Cheese but the rat was too cautious. Upgraded the bait to bird seed fat balls and instant result! Safely released pastures anew!

Works well as a device…..but not caught many
These traps were reasonably priced and easy to use. However, the bait and rat intelligence is thwarting my success. POISONING IS NOT A QUICK OR HUMANE DEATH, AND CONTRARY TO LIES PEDDLED ABOUT THEM GOING BACK INTO THEIR HOLES/NESTS TO DIE IS RIDICULOUS. They suffer terribly, often taken ages to die, and the poison ingested is harmful to any other animal that finds their bodies. Owls, foxes and badgers, even your cats and dogs are at risk. It would be kinder to pay someone to come and shoot them! I’ve owned these traps. for many months, but only caught three to live release 3 plus miles away…..apparently they will come back if nearer😳 Peanut butter of varying qualities did not work! In the end I ended up laying on a buffet style feast and still only caught 1 a few months apart. There is probably a skill, but my cat, foxes and a family of tawny owls are far more useful. If you get the baiting right, they would be better. IMPORTANT NOTE: the rats I did trap would have definitely bitten or attacked me if I was not sensible in my handling the cage and their release. My advice for anyone is: 1. A thick pair of work gloves. 2. Place newspaper under trap if inside, because they will poo a lot, probably due to stress. 3. Have some kind of tool or implement you can hook the release bar up with when releasing the rodent. I would definitely not suggest using bare or gloved hands as it’s too close. 4. Rats definitely need taking 3plus miles away from the catch site if you don’t want them back! Obviously be sensible about it. Don’t dump them near someone else’s house. Make sure it’s wooded or has hedges and a likely natural food source. Otherwise it’s pointless doing live release. Smaller rodents are ok to just put out nearby in a safe suitable location under bushes or by a hedge etc. 5. When transporting rats away, put entire trap in a box or pet carrier- with newspaper- just in case they escape into car. You don’t want an angry agitated rat coming at you whilst driving! 😬 6. Be prepared to experiment with different types of bait food. Good luck!

Great traps
Kept seeing two rats using the hedgehog feeding station as their own cafe. These traps have worked so quickly - a few dog biscuits mixed with peanut butter and within four days I’d caught both. Left them open but not set to tempt them to go in and get the treats for a couple of days and now they are both running around in a field a few miles away.

BE CAREFULL?
Good price, sturdy and easy to set up.Target the bold Rats that sunbathe under my bird feeder this summer.WORKS, caught a really big Rat,2 mice. You can release them away from home. Then the Rats ,they became cautious, and had to keep moving it,only then caught mice and a bird which i did not want.So removed it for another solution.

Brilliant trap works perfectly
I bought this trap because I could hear something moving in the wall cavity at night. I placed one trap in the front garden and one in the back garden. I baited the trap with peanut butter ,within a week I trapped one mouse, one squirrel and one rat. the trap was easy to set and the trap was easy to release. I would definitely say that on lifting the trap or moving it , wrap a towel around it to protect yourself and also calm the animal down and use some long handled tongs or something similar to open the trap so your fingers aren’t near it

Absolute rubbish rat trap.
Zero stars would be more suitable for this. Couldn't catch a cold with this rubbish. Rats walk in and take the food and walk back out again. The tread plate is to far at the back. Rats just stand in front of the tread plate and eat the food. Total rubbish

Really easy to set with simple but sensitive mechanism
Brilliant traps for rodents, at a really reasonable price and it feels solid enough to do the job. They are much easier to bait than some of the other similar looking traps out there and the trigger mechanism is the most straightforward to set that I've come across yet. Picture of an adult rat to show the relative size. There's a bar on the top that's linked to the plate in front of the bait station, the bar has a tiny ledge at the allows you to make it really sensitive to rodents activating it. My only complaint is that it doesn't have a handle, so when you lift it, you've got to be careful how you hold it.

Good tally so far
Caught a squirrel first and that was about 15 minutes after setting it !! Have since caught two rats, which was the purpose for buying them. You have to check the traps regularly as one rat had started to chew through the trap. Have used to some wire to repair the damage, but feel that a thicker gauge wire should have been used when making the trap. Also one of the squirrels that I caught damaged the trigger mechanism so that trap is now useless. Unfortunatly it was not the trap that had been gnawed. To date 3 squirrels and 3 rats. More, I hope, to follow !! In view of the damages I did not feel that I could award it 5 stars, that aside they are quite good traps.
