Most reviews for these products are based on free items with the risk of inherent bias. This review (and that for a similar, different volume product) is based on recent purchase of multiple items for a school who have had some access to Gilson products so I can compare directly.The pipettes arrive well packed with ISO certification for each serial numbered pipette - genuine or not I can't tell but it looks ok. All we purchased worked correctly straight out of the box.The pipette feels good in the hand, outwardly similar to a much more expensive brand, The finish is good but the unit is slightly heavier and the mechanism a little bit stiffer and slightly clunky in operation - basically a little less refined than a similar Gilson. In a commercial lab running hundreds of samples per day this would probably be an issue but for short runs it is fine.Standard Gilson tips fit reliably and the ejector is good. Tested with Gilson tips the volume looks ok, being consistent and, as far as I can judge, close to calibrated volume compared to a recently serviced Gilson.I cannot comment on longevity of o-rings etc yet but there is no rattling or looseness in the mechanism and the unit feels sturdy with no likelihood of falling apart soon. However, at this time I doubt these can be economically serviced and, given the price, I would have to consider them disposable units.Would I recommend this for a FE/HE type school lab? Certainly. Most schools cannot afford Gilson/Eppendorf grade tools for "dna", and "pcr" type work - this unit is a decent alternative which looks the part, feels robust enough to last a while in inexperienced hands and is affordable enough to purchase in numbers allowing an entire class of students to get hands-on rather than twiddling thumbs in groups of four. This is no Gilson so don't expect to treasure and lock it away at the end of each day for the next ten years but it does the job well and an entire pipette is much less than the cost of a service for a single Gilson ...

Review of ONiLAB 1000-5000μl Manual PipetteComes packaged in a plain white cardboard box containing1x Pipette1x disposable Pipette tip1 x User leaflet1 x holder1 x vial of grease1 x unidentified piece of plastic – calibration tool?The 1-5ml pipette weighs 870g, the volume can be adjusted in 0.05 ml increments via a screw at the top of the pipette, lowest the volume scale would go was 0.20, but this size is designed for 1 to 5 ml. The finger holder makes the pipette comfortable to hold when not dispensing. Liquid is dispensed from the disposable tip by pressing the plunger down. This is the most disappointing thing about this pipette. In the past I have worked in a laboratory and used other pipettes, this ONiLAB pipette requires a lot of force from the thumb to dispense liquids, I would not want to use this pipette for repetitive work.The user leaflet is odd, it shows how to use the pipette and stick the holder onto a shelf, but there is no mention of the vial of grease or the piece of plastic I assume is the calibration tool. There is no description on how to use these two items. There was no calibration certificate in the box I received.Overall, this is a low budget pipette and this shows in the usability of the pipette I would be concerned about using it for repetitive tasks in a laboratory. It would be good for home use for the occasional need to accurately measure out small quantities of liquids.In terms of openness, I was sent this item for an impartial review and I hope you found it useful.

Poor Quality, the pump is very sticky after a few use and the pipette ejection button brock after 4 hours of use. Not recommended.

As a biochemist, I have been using these for most of my career. Checked the dispensed volume by weight at 500 µL and ended up with a mean volume of 504 per shot.

Je l'utilise quotidiennement en laboratoire vétérinaire pour des dosages de petits volumes. La prise en main est agréable, le réglage du volume est fluide avec un clic net, et l’affichage numérique est bien lisible.Le cône est compatible avec la plupart des embouts standards. Autre point positif : chaque pipette est livrée avec un certificat d’étalonnage individuel, ce qui rassure sur la précision annoncée.Je n’ai noté aucun jeu au niveau du mécanisme, même après plusieurs semaines d’utilisation. Bref, un très bon choix pour un usage professionnel à un prix très raisonnable !
