The area is longer then the standard 14"** A: I just got the 14 x 14 cushion for the vent, but tried it for the skylight in the shower and used the shower's blackout shade to close the gap. In less than 2 minutes the top of the cushion was HOT and I could feel significant heat coming through the blackout shade. The cushion made an instant difference. Tomorrow I'm going to hunt down foam like Shiela did to close off the skylight.
