why does black cost twice as much as any other color?

Black dye is more complex to make. For example the red dye used 16 grams of material to make 2 gallons, where is this black dye uses 60 grams to make the same amount.

How is it applied? Like you would apply a paint or stain or??? Thank you.

This is an anodizing dye. And dyes like this are absorbed into an anodized aluminum surface. First learn about anodizing before buying these dyes. It involves electricity, sulphuric acid and experience. Anodizing pits microscopic holes into the metal surface and this dye is the exact size to fit into those holes. Thus dying the metal. Search YouTube for how to Anodize aluminum. You'll find some videos there. Don't buy until you know how to Anodize!

will this work on titanium?

No. Titanium anodizing is through electrical current and time. There are no dyes for titanium anodizing. I don't believe black is possible in titanium but I could be wrong. These dyes are exclusively engineered for aluminum anodizing. Thanks and good luck!

All our colors consist of 16 grams of pigment to produce the 2 gallons of colourant. The black however requires 60 grams of pigment to produce the same. So it contains more than 3 times the pigment. These dyes are pure pigment. Other brands are mixed with a solution and thus not pure pigment powders.
