I realize that I may need more than one?** A: Yes it should , especially if it's bare wood . You most certainly will need more than one . If it is a complete table top you may want to think about a small can of stain . **Q: Does this require a top coat after use?** A: I don't think it needs anything else, it dries with a soft glossy appearance. The directions do not anything about needing a top coat. **Q: if being used on drink coaster, would i need to apply a sealer over this stain?** A: It has verithane in it , but when I used it I did add few coats of polyurethane. **Q: Need to varnish after application?** A: Instructions do not indicate needing anything further. Very nice stain with applicator.
