Review: it's pretty tight in there - Purchased the Superwinch Terra 35 Synthetic from desertcart.Com. The box was surprisingly small, but I guess it's only a 3,500 lbs winch. I bought it for my Honda Pioneer 500. I purchased the KFI winch mount separately. Honda would have sold me a Warn winch for three times the price and charged me $300 to install. I figured I could install myself and get the Superwinch for 1/3 the Warn price. I've had several ATV Warn winches. They've never failed, but I've never been hard on them. I figured I won't be hard on the Superwinch, and it seems to be equal quality to a Warn. The KFI mount fit perfectly on the stock Honda front bumper and the winch fit on the mount. The four supplied mounting bolts were 1/4" short. I purchased four longer grade 8.8 bolts at a local shop. No big deal. Wiring the winch is simple enough. The instructions are confusing, but there's no magic to wiring a winch. Run the heavy guage hot and ground wires from the battery to the relay. Actually, there was a ground point near the battery, so I ran the ground wire to that. Saved room in the battery box; it's pretty tight in there. I wired the fuse in next to the battery... Then run the hot and ground to from the relay to the winch. The wires are color coded. The instructions suggest putting the relay close to the battery. I didn't have a dry place to mount the relay near the battery, so placed it closer to the winch. Short (black & red) and long (yellow & blue) pairs of heavy wire are supplied with the winch. I used them and for the Honda Pioneer (relay under the front hood) the wires were the perfect length. I included an image. DON'T follow my image to wire your winch. I swapped the black and red, for the blue and yellow because of the length of runs I needed. So for me, the yellow was hot from the battery and the blue was ground. Easy. Wiring the switch is simple. You find a power source for the switch (either always hot, or hot when the key is 'on'). Then there are two longer wires which clip on to the relay. If the winch goes 'in' when you press the 'out' rocker... swap the two wires on the relay. Easy. I wired in the remote switch as well. Placed that plug near the winch rocker switch. The wires for the remote plug into the relay as well. Ran the wires with the switch wires. It's a simple enough install (though my explanation might not be). The synthetic rope is nice. It comes with about four feet of sheath (made of the same stuff the rope is). That sheath is to protect the end of the rope closest to the hook. That end of the rope gets the most abuse, so it's a smart idea to add the extra layer of protection. I bought a KFI 'winch cable hook stopper. It's a round chunk of rubber that allows you to snug the hook up against the hawse (fairlead) to prevent banging the hook around. It clamped on the hook end of the rope. It's a MUST HAVE; just buy it with the winch purchase. Again, I like the look and feel of the Superwinch. I dragged the machine around the yard abit with the winch. It's a 3,500 lbs so had no problem pulling an 1,100 lbs side-by-side. If I'm really stuck, I'll just double-up with a snatch block. A bigger winch is simply more weight hanging off the front of your machine. Don't need that.
Review: Excellent winch, easy installation, wires long enough. - Installed this on a 2014 Polaris Ranger Crew Cab 570 EPS using the "Polaris Ranger 400 / 500 / 570 / 800 Midsize UTV Winch Mount Kit" available on desertcart. There were no problems at all with the installation. The wires provided were long enough -- wondered about that, but it was not an issue. We routed the wires along the path followed by the coolant tubes that lead from the radiator in front to the engine in back, removing the floor plate forward of the front seat to allow easy access when fishing the wires through. Attached the solenoid to the plastic wall behind the rear seat. Mounted the winch switch at the back of the stowage hole to the left of the steering wheel using the screw that was already there, and installed the remote switch plug inside the glove box, where we stowed the remote switch and cord as well. Very clean and easy installation. Just be sure to use plenty of wire ties. BTW, in my Ranger there was a wiring block under the hood in front of the steering wheel to which an orange wire with white tracer was attached. In my Ranger, and I assume in others, this is switched power. You just connect the winch wires that require switched power to that screw terminal. No need to tap into any wires. Nice of Polaris to think of that. If you have any doubts about whether it is switched power, test it. The winch performs well and allowed us to pull a fallen tree off a trail easily. Not much more to say. It does what it was intended to do. Kind of wish they had included a rubber stopper, but that's OK.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Installation review on 2007 Polaris Sportsman 700
*by J***W on September 7, 2014*

This review is only for installation - haven't needed to use it yet. Everything was in the box as advertised, arrived promptly, Amazon Prime (free shipping) rocks! Installed on 2007 Polaris Sportsman 700 with the separately purchased Superwinch #2202863 ATV mounting kit. I used the fairlead mounting plate that came in the mounting kit, instead of the plate that came with the winch, only because it doesn't stick out in front as much. All the holes and dimensions lined up perfectly. Had to "reverse" a couple of sets of bolts due to tight clearances. Mechanically this thing is rock solid. The motor operates smooth and quiet, unlike the Polaris plow motor I'm replacing. The old set-up had the Polaris motor mounted on the back of the snow plow blade, and it always sounded like it was groaning and dying; in fact I had replaced it twice under warranty, and now Polaris no longer makes that motor. Hence the Superwinch. Key points I would share concerning installation: 1. There isn't much extra space on my bike (under the seat) to mount the solenoid and tie-off the excess length #6 AWG wires. 2. The circuit breaker design is just plain bad, consisting of a metal plate for the electrical connections. This is on the battery positive side of the circuit, so it can't touch any other metal part of the bike frame, etc. I wrapped the whole thing in electrical tape and it basically hangs by the wires - will have to keep an eye on this. 3. The Polaris front "grill" assembly with headlights, etc. would not re-install without a slight trimming (1/8" to 1/4") across the bottom side of the opening (under the mounting plate). Was able to do this with a utility knife. 4. I was able to reuse the Polaris handlebar mounting arm to attach the new toggle switch (same screw hole dimension) - much cleaner look. 5. The remote toggle switch was easy to mount, to the left of the ignition key on the "dashboard" - there was a rubber blank there, and I merely filed the hole to be large enough to fit. Now I'm looking forward to using this awesome winch!
