Review: A great budget addition that does what it says on the tin! - I decided to pick this up on the basis of EEVblog's review of it. He was generally rather positive and found few faults in it as a basic portable oscilloscope. It's no Fluke, but it's also not Fluke money. The interface is a bit perplexing sometimes, but you quickly get used to it. It doesn't have every feature you might want, but that's true of most. It's not the most accurate, but look at the price. It's going to have functional limitations. So if you're looking for replacement for a proper benchtop, you're in the wrong place. You really are. But if you're looking for a basic, easily portable oscilloscope that does exactly what it says and meets the safety ratings it claims? This is one truly impressive unit! Sure, it has some minor hiccups. The included battery isn't the greatest, but it's easily replaced. So what it is, is a reasonably accurate oscilloscope with a mediocre multimeter included, and some genuinely useful features like capture and acting as a USB drive. I bought it for light low-mid voltage usage (generally under 48V) as a portable supplement to a benchtop for embedded systems and automotive work. I have a much better multimeter, and I have a benchtop. And I have to say, I personally find it fantastic! It's light enough to be comfortable to hold for long periods, the kickstand works pretty well generally, and the coating isn't so slippery it just falls off when you try to put it somewhere. Does it have faults? None that I would describe as faults as opposed to 'this is what you're paying for.' It does interpolate under the most difficult measurements, sure, but you can clearly see it and the peaks are correct. The interface is a little clunky sometimes. The included signal probe is far from the worst I've seen, but the ground lead is painfully short. (But hey, it's standard BNC. You can replace it.) The multimeter probes are actually quite nice; soft flexible cable and well made grips. I had no problems positioning them on very fine pitch stuff even one-handed. I would have preferred a non-coiled cable for the temperature probe, but it's not as bad as I feared, seems high quality for the price, and is quite accurate. The screen is actually very impressive for the price; extremely responsive, very bright, and very easy to read in poor lighting and direct sunlight. That's a big win for me. The flap over the USB-C and calibration ports is well anchored and thick enough that I'm not worried about it ripping off. The side grips are comfortable and not slippery. The BNC is a little bit of a tight fit, but I didn't have as hard a time with it as Dave. And the receivers for the other probes are well protected and anchored. Another nice touch is that they include a screwdriver to open the case to access the replaceable fuses - which itself is a great feature - as well as the easily replaced 18650 battery. It also came with a full user manual, not just a 2 page 'guide,' which is clearly written and easy to understand. And the icing on the cake? It has upgradable firmware, which Zotek provides and seems to be updating regularly with bug fixes and improvements! The included case isn't terrible either. I keep bringing up price because that's really why you're buying this one, and honestly, the reason why you SHOULD buy this one. Sure, there's cheaper. Sure, there's better. But this one was pretty obviously designed by a company that did their homework. Because it's perfectly situated in both price and function not only for hobbyists, but also for professionals who don't stare at waveforms every day but do have a need on occasion, as well as folks who need a moderately capable oscilloscope they can carry around for daily use they don't have to be terrified of breaking. And for that, it's pretty much perfect.
Review: Finally a decent affordable handheld scope - I'm a car mechanic and every once in a while I need an oscilloscope to check a sensor output or data line. I don't need much accuracy on the scope, I just need to see a waveform. I also, of course, need a decent multimeter. It's really nice to have both things in one handheld battery powered device, although the scope has its own probe, and can't use the multimeter leads. I'm definitely pleased with this thing. It sits in the top drawer of my tool box and gets used almost everyday as a multimeter, and once a week as a scope. Yeah, the UI is a little... odd, but not irritatingly so once you learn it. I'm also really happy that it has a rechargeable battery so I don't have to keep buying 9 volt batteries - those things are expensive! However, battery life is not great. I find myself charging it every other week. But since this is also a scope it tends to stay on for long stretches of diagnosis. That might be why. Still, who doesn't have a usb charging cable (or ten) ready to charge all of their other devices? Would buy again (although I think I want the 2-channel version now).

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Where is the 703S?**
A: 703S is under development, so stay tuned

**Q: Is anyone aware of what type of battery this takes?**
A: It has a built in rechargeable 18650 battery.

**Q: Can this unit charge from a USB-C to USB-C cable? Or does it need to be a USB-A to USB-C cable?**
A: The meter has a USB C connection on the body, just like a modern cellphone, so that end of the cable must be USB C. The other end can be whatever you like, A, or C, or even B. In my case I just used my cellphone charger, which has USB C on both sides.

**Q: How show the wave line bigger? It just showes a small straight line and the arrows does not changes a lot**
A: Not sure of your question, but let me go over these items. I assume when you say a line, that you are in the oscilloscope mode of the meter. The input to the oscilloscope mode is a probe that plugs into the top of the meter. (Meter mode uses the other two probes that plug into the bottom front of the meter.) With no signal the line is a trace of a single point moving according to the time base. If you input a clean signal then the signal wave will be a single point trace. The trace may be showing noise or harmonics on top of the signal making the trace look wider.

Bought to tune amps with. Worked great for what i needed. Worth the money and a cool piece of equipment to have around. Did not expect a highend o-scope so it loved up to my expectations.
