Excellent method to brew great coffee.
This is a great way to consistently brew excellent coffee. The Hario Next is well made, easy to use and clean, good thick glass, nice stand, and looks beautiful. Makes 600 ml coffee, perfect for 2 mug sized cups. I use a butane burner instead of the included alcohol burner, and also preheat the water in a boiling kettle to save time and butane. I use with the Hario paper filter accessory purchased separately. This unit comes with the standard cloth filter, and a reusable metal filter. Other reviewers say this is a lot of work to use, I find it much less hassle than the espresso machines I also use. Overall, I find siphon brewing to be a valid method to brew coffee, and think the Hario Next is a good tool to use. I like it well enough to have ordered a second one to use at work.

Great Coffee
Really cool coffee maker. We saw this in Starbucks in Chicago and really wanted to buy it but didn't want to haul it back to FL in our suite case. Found it on Amazing and we love it. Makes some really tasty coffee. Recommend using a sterno and not the alcohol burner it comes with. The sterno burns cleaner and doesn't turn the base black. Super cool to watch it brew. Our Granddaughter thinks it's cool. I think we found a new gift to buy people for Christmas.

Fun to use with great flexibility for a variety of recipes
A great way to experiment with water temps, brew times, different filters, etc to hone a variety of recipes for awesome brews! Quality is solid. I also got the Yama Mini Butane Burner which works great too - but can consume more fuel than I expected if not initially using a microwave for 2 minutes to bring the water up to @160F. Grind your beans and get set-up while the water is in the microwave, and after some experience it really only takes about 4 mins to make a great cup of coffee (from the time I walk into the kitchen). I like a HOT cup of coffee and this Syphon leaves the coffee @ 165-170F in my mug.

quite literally the single most bestest way to make a cup of joe........ however you will need to adjust how much you put in...... me and the boi didn't sleep for 3 days after the first batch..... I think it was the equivalent to 10 shots of espresso. 0.o

Coffee Two Ways!
My wife and I truly enjoy not only the coffee this Glass Syphon makes, but also the process of making it! On Saturdays, we make coffee with the Syphon and espresso with our Moka pot. The aromas from the freshly ground beans and the steaming coffee from these two machines is amazing! Sure, it takes a little more effort than using the KitchenAid, but it simply adds a little joy to our lives. You'll discover there is both art and science to this Syphon, and you'll have fun experimenting with the coffee and water ratios you decide best for you. I found I needed a little more coffee that I would have thought required to brew 500, so keep that in mind when making your first batch if you prefer your coffee a little darker. We opted for the Yama Mini Butane Burner for Tabletop Siphons available from Amazon for $41.99, and I'm truly pleased with this addition. I cannot comment on the burner that came with the Siphon; I simply didn't want to mess with the alcohol. We also purchased some extra Hario Siphon Cloth Coffee Filters, but we have not used any yet. I've rinsed and scrubbed the same cloth filter a few times and it seems just fine. I microwave the water before I fill the Siphon to speed the process and save a little butane. Not a big deal, but I'm funny that way. This is one of life's little pleasures, and I hope you find joy in it as well.

Great coffee, but a lot of work.
Mixed feelings about this one... I'm not a coffee expert by any means, but to my taste it makes an excellent cup of coffee, probably the best I've ever tried. In my search for a decent cup of coffee, so far I've tried the pricier k-cups (like Peet's), Aeropress with fresh ground coffee using a burr grinder, a Bodum Bistro coffee machine, and of course this Syphon. The Syphon is really cool looking and it's fun to see the unique brewing process. And the coffee it makes is great. The problem is the included alcohol burner - it takes forever to boil only 2 cups water. I think mine took well over 30 minutes! Maybe a stove top version would work better? The other concern I had was how delicate everything felt - while using it and especially when I was cleaning and drying it - I was always worried about breaking the glass containers. So I returned this, and went with the Bodum Bistro Bodum 11001-01TG Bistro Automatic Pour Over Coffee Machine with Thermal Carafe, 40 oz, Black for the convenience. The Bodum's coffee is very good, not quite as good as the Syphon, but I'll take the easier handling, cleanup, and ability to start it and walk away as a fair compromise.

much better. The tapered upper chamber is easier to clean ...
I'm already sold on the siphon brew method, but I broke the upper chamber of my Chinese knock off of the old style Hario, and the price of the Next has gone down a lot in the last couple years, so I bought one. Much, much better. The tapered upper chamber is easier to clean using the sink sprayer or brush. Basically, the diameter at the top is about an inch wider, so access is better. The handle is rubber which combined with the new shape feels more comfortable. The glass seems a bit thicker than the one I broke, but that might be because it was a cheap knock off. Overall the look of the Next is more modern, not like something you picked up in a flea market. The metal filter ($15 if you buy one separately) is an excellent value. It does allow a tiny amount of solids to pass into the lower chamber if you use a fine grind, so consider buying a Diguo filter if that bothers you. Bottom line, I should have broken the old one sooner.

Great coffee—I modified mine to work on gas stove
An excellent product to produce smooth and rich coffee. As other have said, the burner that comes with it is pretty worthless. Butane burners work great but butane is exponentially more expensive than natural gas. I did a simple modification that allows me to use my gas stove. Basically, just unscrew the bottom stand and flip it around. Then I just added a couple rubber grips on the bottom to prevent sliding. Enjoy!

Me llegó puntual y bien embalada.

I love this unit, works like a charm. I am a coffee nut, i have a french press, pour over and the cuisinart pourover coffee maker. This is now my preffered method. It comes with a cloth and stainless steel coffee filter. I have been using the cloth filter and it produces a nice mellow brew. If you prefer a more bitter and oily brew the steel or french press might be for you. Its fun to watch and is a conversation piece. Because you need to use the burner you can make coffee right at the table. And do buy the gas burner, it heats the water much faster than the alcohol burner that comes with it.
