Okuma GLS Steelhead rods are built with light and responsive 30-ton carbon rod blanks which are designed with actions that salmon and steelhead fishermen require. With eight total models in the GLS Steelhead lineup, you are bound to find the action that you are looking for. Six of the eight rods are spinning models with the final two being casting versions. They range from 9-feet to 11-feet in length and feature actions in Light, Medium Light, Medium, and Medium Heavy. The Dual Helix wrap design with over 6000 strands of carbon thread keeps these rods strong and light. The GLS series feature Okuma UMR rod tip technology that reduces weight and increases strength. The components of the GLS Steelhead series are top-notch and were chosen specifically with a full day on the water in mind. Premium deep press stainless steel Sea Guide frames hold on to oversized Zirconium guide inserts to reduce freezing and increase compatibility with both braided and monofilament lines. All rods feature Fuji ACS or TVS reel seats depending on whether you have a spinning or casting model. Works perfectly as designed. Very light considering it is 11 feet long. If I were to change anything, I would lengthen the butt end by about 2 inches so it is snug under my arm. Okuma did a great job with this one. Got 3 paired with the okuma ceymar and 1 with a shimano stratic. Will be getting one or 2 more. I also use the okuma SST and the Celilo ultralight rods as well. Those are quality rods for a little less money but definitely great for a trout fishing. The gsp handled this 8lber with ease

Amazing rod!

Great Rods

Woopen Stick
Flat out woopen stick! I fished this rod with all types of setups. I simply love this rod. It’s extremely sensitive. It’s nice to fish several hours straight remains comfortable. You feel every peck from the smallest fish. It holds up well to larger trout. The construction is excellent quality. No signs of stress cracks. Guides are perfect condition. I nailed a lot of fish. Because I was able to feel the smallest hits the rods action allowed for setting the hook immediately. I’m very pleased and encourage you to buy this rod. It definitely gave me confidence when I hit the water with it. I use a 8lbs braided line with a 5 foot leader of flourcarbon. It did the trick for sure.

Feels good at first but snapped like a twig
This rod broke like a dry twig. Do Not buy! I got screwed on this one. The rod feels nice and light but it is very brittle and weak. DO NOT BUY!

best squid rod ever
love the slim profile, the flex is awesome and its' 1 piece , i love the looks, the feel the power and the action of this rod , it feel every nibble of the squids or random small fish, have been using it over a 1 year, i loved it too much i bought a second one for spare. price is greater than st croix avid, and st croix dont have the slim profile or the power UL like this one does, it is 761UL , not 761L

Great rod but delivered broken
These are great rods however they failed to package the one I ordered tightly and it came with the tip broken off. They offered me $35 as a discount; if they would have offered all but $35 I would have gotten it fixed but I shipped it back for a full refund and decided to pick one up at a store for slightly more than they sold this for. I probably won’t trust them to ship me a pole again as it impacted my fishing plans. I went on a guided tour trip on the Solduc and was convinced these poles were comparable to my bobber pole but more price friendly. I put a Stradic 300 on my replacement and am super happy with it. Great rod but be forewarned, they need to package them better.

works great
new to fishing, but caught many salmons without breaking it. I caught some big Chums, cohos, pinks, this rod handles it without any issue.

Great rod
Bought this for float fishing from a boat, and it’s become my favorite rod. Lightweight but strong. I paired it with a Daiwa Tatula 100 reel, and it casts like a dream. I’ve caught about 30 fish on it so far and love the responsive feel. Perfect for steelhead.
