Our bathroom ceiling fan caught on fire in the middle of the night. The fan was burning on the floor when the fire alarm woke me. I was able to throw the fire blanket on the fire. It was so easy to use. Pulled it out of the bag and threw it over the fire. If the fire had been bigger I would have used a fire extinguisher. I think this size is great for an adult to use and manage easily. And if it were a kitchen fire would easily cover the stove which was my original reason for purchasing now that my kids can cook on their own. It put the fire out and our fire was contained to the one room. We just ordered more fire blankets. Highly recommend having them on different floors of the house, not just in the kitchen. I also am going to add them to our car kits. I don’t know if fire blankets are meant to be reused. I am just going to throw it out and get new ones just to get rid of the fire smell. They seriously work exactly as advertised! The cost is so little when compared to what damage the fire could have done if left to burn.

I saw an ad for these on YouTube, but the price was insane. So I found this on Amazon and a much more reasonable prize. I hope I never have to use one of them! I’m giving two for Christmas's gifts and keeping two for myself. I did some research and this is an asbestos blanket. It seems to put out a fire within seconds if you throw it over sparks or a fire that has just started. One of the bits of information that I gleaned from my research was that if you throw it over a fire that has expanded, such as one that is in danger of going up a wall that is quite energetic, chances are this will put it out providing the fire isn’t of a larger area than the blanket. However, bits of asbestos because of the heat from that fire could be here and there about the room. For cleanup, when would definitely want to go in with a respirator! And cover one skin with gloves and long sleeves, et cetera. This Mother is a fire. Fires all need oxygen. At least as far as I know. So I figured the fact that it isn’t asbestos blanket a small potatoes if a fire starts from something plugged into a wall for instance or on your boat.

Had to buy more because we had to use them! We had a small kitchen fire in our apartment. Thank GOD we had these because we just moved in an didn't have a fire extinguisher! They totally worked! The only down side was the fiberglass. After handling it to put out the stove top fire, my roommates hand felt tingly and was bothering him. Long story short, he got some stuck in his hand. I don't think I saw a warning for that, or I didn't know it could happen, so definitely be careful. From what we saw afterwards, it's good to put out the fire, wash your hands carefully, clean up the area carefully, put your clothes in the wash, and if anything feels tingly, you can use duct tape carefully on thr area to try to pull the fibers out.
