Good product
I needed a Ceramic Honing Rod which was of a sensible length without costing stupid money. My 'go to brand' for all things knife sharpening is Work Sharp, however their Ceramic Honing Rod was/is a lot more to buy so I thought I'd give this brand a try. So far it has done what I want it to. Like many other companies they have copied Work Sharp's Angle Guide for this honing rod. It is fixed at 20° which is adequate for most non-specialist knives. The anti-slip rubber tip on the tip of the rod is also adequate in that it does help stop the tip of the rod slipping away. Definitely a good thing when you have a knife being sharpened in your other hand. If I have one minor issue with this honing rod in that the rubber tip isn't also an angle guide (maybe a tad larger too) . This would make getting the angle on the upward pass more accurate and enabling using one's dominate hand for both downward and upward passes rather than keep changing hands to hone each edge using the guide. It's minor but it is a niggle nonetheless. I'd recommend this product based on my using it on a lot of my various tupes of knives for a couple months.

Good value, useful features.
Effective for sharpening. For daily touch up I use a steel. Good angle guide on handle. Protective cap is usefull too. Looks like it will last.

Quality
Great for keeping a sharp edge. Not so sure about reprofiling when the knife needs Apexing? But that could be me. I would buy again and recommend this product.

Far Superior To Stainless Steel Variants
I sharpen my knives with a whetstone, but have always used the cheap, stainless steel honing rods that you get from a local supermarket. Although those do help, I've never found them to be that effective. This is my first experience with a ceramic rod and wow! What a difference!. Someone noted in a separate review that they were not satisfied with the 20 degree angle guide, and I completely agree. 20 degrees is not the angle I sharpen my existing knives to. Don't get me wrong, there are knives that are best sharpened to that angle. So for me, I don't use the guide. Overall, it's very well made and certainly worth what's being asked for it. I will never go back to stainless steel to hone my knives.

fantastic final stage for getting my kitchen knives beautifully sharp. for years I used only the powdered diamond coated steel and was never really happy with how sharp it could get the knives, not knowing that I should be using a ceramic rod like this. A few smooth strokes later and my 20 year old kitchen knives are fantastically sharp. The angle guide at the hilt is very helpful and it is long enough that my 8 inch chef’s knife can be done in a nice smooth stroke. love it!

Best honing / sharpening rod I have owned. Less aggressive than a diamond rod, but harder than my 61HRC Japanese knife steel (unlike a steel honing rod), so it actually does something, unlike steel hones. I touch up my knives on this every week or two and it keeps them remarkably sharp between proper water stone sharpenings. Technically this removes material, so it is better classified as a sharpening rod than a honing rod. This is the one you want for Japanese knives.

I'm not a butcher but I do live in regional Australia, have a family owned sheep, cattle station in outback, South Australia. A part of everyday life is butchering a ration sheep, kangaroo or rabbit etc, occasionally we have to cut up donkey meat for a dingo/wild dogs baiting program. This ceramic honing rod gets the job done. Keeping a good edge is important as it dramatically reduces the time and effort required to get a job done right the first time. Be it in the kitchen at home trying to get my grand daughter fed, in a shed cutting up bait meat on a cold, winters night or cutting up kangaroo in a dried creek bed, in a paddock, 3 hours from home on a scorching hot summer's day I don't want to be spending time and effort with tools that aren't reliable and hacking through meat with a blunt knife causes that. Is this the best honing rod under the sun? I doubt it and could most assuredly I could achieve a better edge with time and effort wasted with sharpening stones and stops etc but for 49 out of 50 times, this is a better option.
