Stainless Steel Rice Measuring Cup + Paddle Scoop Spatula Bamboo - Replacement for Japanese Electric Rice Cooker (1 Cup + 1 Paddle)

Rice sticks terribly to the cheap bamboo wood rice scoop, but the measuring cup is the star of the show. Measurements are accurate and legible, doesn’t tarnish, easy to clean, pours and functions as intended. It’s compact, so it can be stored in most standard sized containers.

A family member gave me her rarely used Tiger rice cooker, but couldn't find the measuring cup and spoon so I bought this. It works well! Pro tip that I got from a Japanese grandmother: It is not enough to just rinse the rice under running water, it must be scrubbed to remove the starch. She washed the rice by rolling it between her hands. I tried it and found it tedious. Her adult daughter told me that she puts the rice in a bowl and whisks it, rinsing repeatedly until the water is clear. I have a blender with a whisk and that is the only way I rinse rice now!

Perfect replacement for my lost measuring cup with my rice cooker. The included paddle is a nice bonus and very useful. In case you are confused where to fill it, fill it all the way to the top.

The cup is nice, does it's job well and should last forever. The rice scoop looks nice but cooked rice will stick to it.

Update : I received the correct package, cup & spoon together. The Measuring Cup of the cup & spoon set was missing.

The wooden spoon just needed a little sanding to be smooth/splinter-free. It wasn't cracked and it thick enough for long use. The cup is Stainless Steel, sturdy and easy to clean. I like that it has no handle. The numbers are deeply impressed, so it's fairly easy to read. They are reversed, so you read it from inside the cup instead of outside the cup (which makes perfect sense). According to the rice cooker manual for my cooker, this is the industry standard rice cooker cup size of 180mL. The top "line" is 150mL, there is a "dot" above that labeled "180". That = 180mL. That is the mark to use if you want add water to the 3 "cups" (540 Milliliters = 0.54 Liters) water line in the Rice cooker pot. Copied from the manual I downloaded: "Brown rice takes longer to cook and requires more water than white rice due to the extra bran layers on the grains. The water lines in the inner pot are meant for white rice only. Please see the chart above for brown rice/water ratios. • Brown rice, wild rice and rice mixes vary in their make-up. Some variations may require longer cooking times and/or additional water in order to achieve optimum results. Refer to the individual package instructions for cooking suggestions. • The measuring cup included adheres to rice industry standards (180mL) and is not equal to one U.S. cup. The chart above refers to cups of rice/water according to the measuring cup provided. • Do not place more than 3 cups of uncooked rice (2 cups if brown rice) into this appliance at one time. The maximum capacity of this unit is 3 cups raw rice (2 cups if brown rice) which yields 6 cups of cooked rice (4 cups brown rice)."
