Victron Energy SmartSolar MPPT Solar Charge Controller (Bluetooth) - Charge Controllers for Solar Panels - 150V 35 amp 12/24/36/48-Volt

This 150/35 is my third Victron Smartsolar MPPT solar charge controller. They are great quality and function well no matter the configuration. This unit will be used to add more solar to our off grid cabin. We also use a 75/15 that is used in an ammo box with a 20Ah battery and multiple usb outlets, 12v sockets 2.5x5.5 barrel connectors etc. We also purchased a 100/20 which is used for maintaining car batteries, charging a 48V ebike, charging outdoor lighting batteries. The 150/35 and 100/20 can charge 12, 24, 36, 48 volt batteries if your solar array has the correct voltage to do so. These need 5v above battery voltage to start charging and 1-2volts above battery voltage to continue charging. Never exceed the voltage limit and remember that voltage goes up when your solar panels get cold, so account for this when setting up your system. The Victron Connect app is great and works through bluetooth. You are able to adjust all charging parameters in the app through your phone with a nice and logical app. Victron release updates fairly frequently and they are always an improvement, I have never regretted an update like one might with a computer or cell phone. Another positive to this is that the updates are stores in the app, so you can take your phone to a place where you have a comtroller needing an udate and successfully update it with no cell service. Top quailty product with great features. I will purchase more in the future.

Works great maxs out my solar panel wattage

This MPPT charger is a great device with built in Bluetooth functionality which gives you live data, configuration control (presets or custom), and historical / trend data on PV voltage, PV amps, Battery voltage and Charge amps, and more. I really like the amount of information and control that I have at my fingertips. Highly recommended.

Great unit and Victron support was excellent in resolving an issue that was occurring. Easy to set up and maintain. Very compact size compared to other other brands and solid durable construction.

Excellent purchase, work flawless

Easy setup. Works as advertised. Runs a bit hot. It has a good heatsink so I'm not worried about the electronics but you'll need to provide good air flow. The bluetooth connectivity is convenient and the app works well. I do wish that the app saved the data locally and let you display the graphs when not connected to the device however. The bluetooth range could also be improved. I have the controller connected to a battery in the same cabinet and I can connect to the battery's BMS just fine from the living room but not to the controller. All are minor issues but one star off for the lot of them.

This controller worked well because of the 150 volt input from the panels. It replaced a Renogy controller that could not work at the voltage levels. I have factory installed #10 wire run from my roof to the charge controller. I do not want to run new wires or cut new holes in the roof. This means that you have to up the voltage in order to get the watts to the controller. The commercial panels I have allow in series voltages of well over 150 volts, so I chose to put three panels (335 watt/40 vdc each) in series for a 120 volt at 8.3 max amps. This is less than 1/3 the rated amp load of a #10 copper wire. So very, very low voltage drop. The batteries are currently at 12 volts so the charger is limited to about 400 watts being sent to the batteries at any time. This will change this winter to 48vdc so I can get the full power through it. This charge controller linked to a blue tooth battery monitor has been bullet proof so far. Just make sure you get the high power battery monitor. The low power one will maybe not make it from your batteries to the charge controller. Mine are on opposite ends of a 32 foot trailer. The Lesson I learned from this of having to buy things twice. Pay the price of a good charge controller, with a warranty. One note this seller told me to contact Victron directly when I had a question. Normally resellers of Victron equipment are certified for the equipment they sell. Maybe the seller can tell me, but I believe this is not an official Victron Distributer.
