This Borbone Coffee gets 5 stars from me, because it is really rich and has some complex, pleasing flavor notes. It costs a few dollars more than most bags of beans of the same size, but it is well worth it, in my opinion, and those few dollars more may also be a result of the fact that this coffee truly is made in and comes from Italy!

One of my favorite coffee beans. Non oily beans so it’s a great choice for the fully automatic machines.

I use my Bialetti Moka Pot to brew this coffee. As advised by an expert, for these dark beans I use room temperature, not hot water, to fill the chamber a bit below the pressure valve. This yields a very dark and smooth brew with a bit of chocolate flavor. Sugar isn’t necessary. Don’t be fooled by the lack of bitterness. It’s a medium roast, but it’s still a high caffeine cup that gives a strong buzz from a full mug because it’s 100% robusta beans. Robusta beans are naturally higher in caffeine than Arabica beans. The beans don’t have to be roasted as dark and oily as an arabica to have a kick. This isn’t a negative - just be aware. You can use a coarser grind to reduce strength. Also means you still get a high strength cup of cappuccino or late when you add milk.

Yuck! It has a very odd burnt smell and tastes just as bad. I’m so confused by all the good reviews on this. Skip this and get lavazza instead!
