Cheap board, nice with minor annoyances
Summary: For a cheap Socket 1700 board this is nice, works well but naturally not to be paired with high-end CPUs. When on sale, might as well get a better Z790 or TUF if you can afford it. Get a socket 1700 buckle/bracket if you can afford it to replace the LGA socket.Note that wifi/bt is AX201 (dual band) CNVio2 older card - not the WiFi 6E AX211 (so no 6GHz tri-band) but easy to replace; penny pinching by Asus... Or you can use BE200 PCIe card if you want Wifi 7. Don't get the CNVio3 versions (BE201), they won't work.I use the "wifi" slot for a NVMe SSD, just buy a A+E M.2 to B+M converter and you can add a 2230 SSD in it. Note that it is only a PCIe x1 lane - so with PCIe3 SSD you will max at ~1GB read/write.The x1 lane PCH PCIe 4 slot is mechanically x16 full width - so you can plug in a x4 or x8 card/or adapter without modding it. You're limited by x1 lane but even 10Gbe network card will be OK especially if PCIe 4 (e.g. AQC 113)The x4 lane PCH PCIe 4 slot is also mechanically x16 full width - so you can plug in a x8 or x16 card/adaptor - e.g. video for server CUDA/AI/transcode - and then use the PCIe 4 x16 "video" slot for a SSD array.Note that B860 does not do bifurcation - so if you want to use the PCIe 4 x16 slot for a SSD array you will need a card with bifurcation built-in; e.g. ASM2814, ASM 2812 x8 cards + Enterprise 22110 NVMe SSDs. Some are unreliable and get hot so go for branded (e.g. Dell) if you can.Otherwise this board is pretty much identical to the other in the Asus range of B760 MATX with small variations.

Good quality motherboard
Purchased 3 of these and they've all been excellent, solid and reliable, if a little expensive. The first 2 purchased (Nov 2023) needed a BIOS flash to support 14th gen CPU, but the latest one (Jan 2025) supported 14th gen out of the box. Running with i5-13600K, i5-14600K, i3-14100 CPUs.
