A: Yes you can use them for crafts. And no they don't need to be soaked. You soak them to make them soft once they are dry theybstay in place again.

**Q: Expiration date?**
A: The ones we got were peppered with mold. Do not recommend.

I can't say I was unhappy, the size and cleanliness of this product were very good, but as we got into the pile there were many small and half pieces. These are a bit expensive.
