They keep my clothes from getting static, help the dryer be more efficient and keep me from having fabric softener sheets littered all over my house. You can even add a little essential oil (research before using) to add a nice scent to your clothes. The only downside, which is not the fault of the product, is that my dog LOVES them and will grab one that bounced out and bury it in the yard if I am not careful! I was a bit skeptical after reading many of the reviews, but decided to try them any way. I agree with the other comments that you will probably need to add fabric softener (either in the wash cycle or sheets to the dryer) to reduce static. But they do seem to fluff up the towels and flannel sheets and maybe cut down a bit on dryer time. I found them most useful with small dryer loads where sometimes clothes stick to the drum and don't rotate as well because there are not enough clothes. They seem to provide the critical mass necessary for these items to rotate in the dryer. They do make a soft "thump" while rotating around, but it was not annoying. I did learn very quickly do not simply open the dryer door in mid-cycle, but instead let it come to a complete stop. Otherwise, the woolies are pretty good at re-enacting The Great Escape. A couple of reviewers suggested putting a drop or 2 of lavender oil on a woolie before tossing in the dryer to add scent to your towels. I tried this with some sheets and towels. When I opened the dryer, there was a wonderful scent. However, it wasn't sufficient to actually transfer the scent to the sheets and towels. So I added about 6-8 drops to one woolie and then used all three in the dryer. Fluffy, nicely scented towels...and a wonderful lavender scent in laundry area. I limited putting oil on just one woolie (which I marked) and don't use that woolie when drying other clothes or fabric.
