It is heat resistant and works well with doir seals and such. If ya trying to protect a wall I would use cement board

I would not use it there. The high end of the heat range for silicone rubber (there are various formulations with some holding up better at high temperatures than others) is about the same as an oven in your home (450° F). Without knowing or investigating, I would be willing to be the temperature for the stove application could be higher. I would use some of the fiberglass material made for wood/pellet stoves.
