Review: UNBELIVABLE SHARPNESS! - The kit is a must buy for beginners like me. It brings absolutely everything you need to start for a killer price. I'm really happy with the dual sided stones, used 400 to 3000 personally. Posted a video of another knife that was close to the sharpness before I used the stone for comparison. I feel like with practice I could get it even sharper. It beats a pull through sharpener by a mile but does take some elbow grease. I will go over my experience below and some pointer on what I wish I had known. -Started by watching a video while I soaked my stone. -There are tons of videos and apparently you can mess up too bad. My knife is old and was cheap so I don't mind practicing on it, but I definitely wouldn't try this with an expensive knife if it's your first time. -Base of the product was really stable and held the stone in place. I also put a kitchen towel below because it is a wet process. The base also gave the right elevation for my hands to not bump into the table. -Decide to go with the sharpie method. Worked well enough for me. -Started at 1000 stone and was encouraged online to freehand it. I recommend you use the guide to form the edge first if you have a really dull knife. Then freehand it. -Took me about an hour to grind away enough metal to start feeling the bur on the bottom of my knife. I switched to the 400 grit and did the rest of my knife to get a prominent edge. Then moved back to 1000. -Keep adding water. Makes the process quieter and it just feels like it's working better when its wet. -Toughest part was keeping the angle as you moved down the knife. I recommend making slow and deliberate movements. It was easier for me to sit down to keep the angle from shifting. After developing somewhat of an edge, the angle will feel right as you place it on the stone. -Let the stone do the work. Slightly push down. Will take more passes but I felt the angle of my knife change at times when pushing harder and the sharpie would indicate that it slightly did. -If you do 3 to 5 passes and look at the edge you can see what you did. Observation on the actual edge by feeling the bur and looking at it gave me feedback on if I was doing it right. -Take a short break in between sides. I personally have back pain and the process is a bit strenuous. It's a long process especially if your knife hasn't been cared for in a long time. -After working about 1 1/2 hours I completed one side, edge was even from heel to tip and I could feel the bur. Moved on to the other side and did the same exact thing. -When I felt I was done I moved on to the last 3000-grit stone. Didn't go back and forth a bunch, just made long motion from heel to tip, flipping every time. -This is the point where I took out a couple sheets of paper and tried slicing it. Try staring at different sections of the knife. You can really feel where the blade is sharpest and where it could use some more work by the way it grips. -Go back and keep trying. your knife could only get sharper. -After a 2-hour process I was extremely happy with my results. I used the leather with the green stuff and flattened my stones. I put the stones somewhere open near a window to dry all the way through and they look brand new. -Used it to prep all my veggies for the week and it was SHARP. Onions don't make me cry as much. I don't squeeze my tomato's trying to slice them anymore. My knife glides through fish, chicken and steaks. It's a massive difference. -I feel like next time I go to sharpen it will take me less than 30min. It's really that first edge that takes time to establish. -All in all, I'm glad I got this. Absolutely amazing kit. So much for an affordable price. Will definitely buy again!
Review: Great kit! - For the price, I'd say it would be hard to beat this kit. There is everything you need to sharpen even larger knives to razor sharp. The base holds firmly on a table top. Stones are good sized and heavy. The strop is small, but good enough quality ,with a nice amount of polishing compound supplied. Also has suede on one side and smooth leather on the other. I had no problems stropping a 5 inch kitchen knife with it.The axe/tool sharpener and gloves are a great bonus too. Everything was very well packaged in factory box. Well worth the $25 I spent.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Overall, good sharpener
*by J***E on December 25, 2024*

I got an Asyoko chef knife for my birthday, so I was excited to find a whetstone to give it a good quality sharpness. Now, maybe it's my technique, but I haven't quite gotten that knife back to it's original sharpness since sharpening. I wish there were more online resources from the seller to help teach how to use the stone or give more in depth techniques when sharpening. Still, I've been able to get a decent sharpness when using this, and I don't regret the purchase
