Very well made and smooth.
This reel feels real smooth, and well built. It was packaged very well, and delivery was fast. I haven't had a chance to use it on the water yet, but using it at home to test it, it works really well. The drag system is smooth, and the bail is easy to close. The 10 bearings make for a smooth reel and take up of the line. It is light, and as you can see in the picture, it is black in color, and very well made. I would recommend this reel.

Smoooooth as butta...
One of my passions is surf fishing in So. Calif. As many know, surf fishing is hard on gear. Salt water brought in on the fishing line tends to find it's way into the internals of any reel. KastKing's Sharky proprietary sealing systems claims to prevent this to a measurable degree. There is a fella on You Tube that has intentionally abused his KastKing by fully immersing, dragging thru salt water on every trip for more than a year on an earlier Sharky model. He's buried in beach sand more times than I can count. After a full year of this intentional abuse, when opened up, there were but a few drops of water and virtually NO corrosion inside. The main, anti-reverse and bail trip gears were still in perfect condition. If that isn't a testimonial to the seals of the Sharky model, I don't know what else is???I've been using the KastKing braids for more than two years now, find it was the tenacity, strength and sensitivity to match any of the popular brand names. Just recently tried the new Pro 9 braid and the co-polymer lines. Very please with both. This is my 2nd KastKing Sharky 3. A 5000 series on a 10 ft. Hurricane Heavy rod or on a Med. Heavy Shimano for bigger surf game fish. I am amazed at the casting distance these combos allow. On the 10 foot rod, I can throw a 1/2-3/4 oz lure up to 80 yards or more. Now, following the trend of light weight surf fishing pioneered by Bill Varney, a Sharky 3 2000 series on a 9 ft. Fenwick Steelhead/Salmon rodfor lighter surf fish like perch, mackerel, and croakers. Casting with a short leader 1/4 oz Carolina rig, KastKing 15Lb. SuperKast 9 and smallhooks for Gulp sandworms or grubs I can cast 60-70 yards out. Often right before the outside breakers, the inland shore troughs where surf fish like to feed. Unbelievable I can throw something so light so far but I feel this is the quality of the line, the reel and the rod combo.Like the many others have mentioned, the Sharky is an incredibly smooth casting and even better retrieving reel. Smooth doesn't begin to describe how easily. how smoothly these reels work. Better than even some hi end reels costing 2-3 times as much and more.If you are looking to get into some decent fishing gear without the high cost of big name brands, you'll be quite surprised and happy with KastKing. the jury's till out on long term support if/when the reels need some TLC. I can still buy parts for older Mitchel, Garcia and Penn reels. I hope down the road this is the case with the KastKing products.

Strong, affordable, and light. The perfect budget reel!
One of the very best reels for the money. Light weight, yet strong, with amazing line capacity. Can't believe you can get this so cheap! For those of you getting the 5000 size, this reel deserve the Gomexus Power Handle upgrade. It would cost almost as much as the reel, but trust me, it's worth it!Specs: Gear Ratio: 5.2:1 Frame: Graphite Max Drag: 39.5lbs Reel Weight: 10.6oz (vanilla) - 10.9oz w/Gomexus handle IPT: 33.8in Bearings: 10+1Line Capacity Printed On Reel in mm/m: 0.285/200, 0.310/170, 0.335/140Calculated Capacities:Mono Berkley Trilene (Red box): 8Lbs(0.25mm)260m/284yds, 10Lbs(28mm)207m/226yds, 12Lbs(0.33mm)149m/163yds, 14Lbs(0.36mm)125m/137yds, 17Lbs(0.38mm)112m/122ydsMono Berkley Trilene XT Extra Tough (Blue box): 8Lbs(0.30mm)180m/197yds, 10Lbs(36mm)125m/137yds, 12Lbs(0.38mm)112m/122yds, 14Lbs(0.41mm)97m/106yds, 17Lbs(0.43mm)88m/96ydsFluoro Berkley Vanish: 8Lbs(0.25mm)260m/284yds, 10Lbs(28mm)207m/226yds, 12Lbs(0.30mm)180m/197yds, 14Lbs(0.33mm)149m/163yds, 17Lbs(0.38mm)112m/122ydsBraid PowerPro Super 8 Slick V2 (Yellow box): 20Lbs(0.23mm)307/336yds, 30Lbs(28mm)207m/226yds, 40Lbs(0.32mm)159m/174yds, 50Lbs(0.36mm)125m/137yds, 65Lbs(0.41mm)97m/106ydsBraid PowerPro Braided Spectra Fiber (Green box): 20Lbs(0.23mm)307/336yds, 30Lbs(28mm)207m/226yds, 40Lbs(0.3mm)180m/197yds, 50Lbs(0.36mm)125m/137yds,Tech: Triple Disc Carbon Fiber Drag. Very Nice But Small.
Pros:-High quality for the price.-The smoothest Kastking spinning reel I've ever purchased. No oil necessary.-Sharp looking reel.-Very strong drag with a wide range.-Perfect match for an Ugly Stik Carbon spinning rod.-Gave me a chance to use a half spool of Power Pro 20 lb. braid I've had for years.Cons:-Just one. This reel is very small for a 5000 size. I bought it for king salmon fishing, unaware of the sizing as compared to other 5000 reels. This one is closer to 3000 size. But the quality and smoothness of this reel prevented me from returning it. I can always use this little gem for coho salmon. But because the spool is small and narrow, enter the nearly 10-year old partial spool of Power Pro. I usually use 30 lb. braid on my coho salmon rigs, but the diminutive size of this reel screamed a lighter line.Just know that these reels run very small.....or at least the 5000-series does.

Good value
I haven't used this reel for very long. Mid Atlantic weather has been up and down and conditions have limited use to four outs at this time. Reel arrived with an issue and I contacted customer service via email. The customer service representative, Winnie, was responsive and took care of my issue. Given the vastly different time zones and the inherent lag dealing with email, KastKing customer service came through very well. I think the reels are a little smaller in size than comparable reels. I needed a strong reel in about a 2500 size and the Sharkey 3000 fill that niche very well. The reel has more weight to it that a lightened carbon or hybrid metal alloy reel but balance out very well on a 7 foot spinning rod. This ten bearing reel is fairly smooth on the retrieve and the braid I spooled up with laid down nicely and casts smoothly. When fighting a nice largemouth bass, there was no flex in the frame and the cranking remained smooth. Line laydown on the spool was still good with no digging. Bail operation was smooth and consistent. The ball bearings are not high quality but at the price point are more than adequate for this reel. Drag is smooth and consistent. Only time and use as well as some rain, dunkings, and some mud will tell but overall the Sharkey reel is a winner. Now, about that name?

Smoothest Spinning Reel I Have Owned at Any Price!
Often, I will post a review of a product that is surprisingly good for the price. I am always thrilled to feel like I received a tremendous value and I want to encourage customers to buy from companies that offer a good product at a great bargain. As far as this reel goes. I don't know that I have ever used a spinning reel that I felt was as good as this one at any price.Smooth is the word that comes to mind.Reeling is effortlessly smooth and balanced.Casting, also feels amazingly smooth. I put the exact same line on a nice Cabela's brand reel that I have liked for a while. With the same line, rod and lure, I can expect my cast to get out 15-20 percent farther. Being a Kayak fisherman, this is huge to me. I can cover more water and keep my kayak farther from areas that I am sneaking in on. This simply leads to more fish. Which equals more fun.The drag is also smooth. It doesn't shoot out in spurts. When the fish pulls or when I go too hard on the fish, the drag just gives smoothly. This can certainly help keep light line from breaking and fish on the line.I have also purchased a KastKing bait casting reel which I feel is similarly high quality. At the price that KastKing offers these reels, if I need to replace any of my spinning reels, I would replace them with the Sharky III without hesitation. In fact, even if I don't NEED to replace them, I may anyway. This reel is just that good.

The item seems to be used or reconditioned
I heard alot of good reviews before making my purchasing decision on the Shark 3. Unfortunately upon receiving the item, the package and reel itself seems to be somewhat secondhand or an RA item. Not surprisingly when I started using the reel for the first time, it make a clicking sound when you wind the reel. Not very happy with the quality. I was going to recommend my friend to purchase it, but after this experience i think the reviews weren't genuine.

Very good product and design without breaking the bank
I’ve landed a fair amount of fish with that reel. It was a good upgrade from my sienna. The drag is the main attractive feature. If you match it with the right rod and braid your are sorted without breaking the bank.It is Braid ready as well.

High quality
This is a great fish reel. I use them for Salmon fishing in BC rivers. Strong and durable drag system. We have caught (and released) many with these reels. Smooth action, good finish.
